Working netflix for non-root inspire!

red colored app the stock one or the red hacked one? I'm using the black hacked one. I guess I don't think it'd make a difference though from what they're saying over there at xda, they say they only enabled rotation and didn't touch anything else.

I was using the Red hacked one, after you mentioned that i went back to xda and downloaded the red stock one and that is working for me.

Maybe the rotation changes is denied by netflix and requires an update.

At any rate, its working now so thanks for the help, maybe someone should mention this too xda before everyone else have the same problem i did.

Can anyone walk me step by step through downloading this? Apparently I am not very savy with my phone....I just click on it to download, it downloads, I go into menu while still in the internet, click on downloads, then click on the file, and it says cannot open file. Is there something else I should be done? One person above said something about an Astro file and Downloads folder...I have no idea what an Astro file is and I don't have a downloads folder anywhere that I can see. Apparently phone is smarter than me!! Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!!

First make sure you have unknown sources checked. (from the main screen: menu-settings-applications-unknown sources)

Download astro file manager from the market (if you haven't already done so) open up astro follow this path: (these are the folder names) mnt-sdcard-download. The netflix apk should be in that download folder. Tap the netflix apk then open in the upper left you should see an install button.
When you open astro it might already take you into the mnt folder (mine does) in which case you won't see the mnt folder unless you tap the up button at the top of the screen. So if this is the case just go to sdcard-download and look for the netflix you downloaded.

It actually worked for me but it gave me a screen saying that this app reads things on my phone and could have access to phone calls. Is that safe???

I believe it needs access to calls because it needs to be able to tell when you get a call to pause/stop the movie otherwise it would probably still play the audio and video while a call came in then you would have to go back to the app and manually stop the movie.

Awesome explanation! I struggled a bit getting this installed before I read your post. Now, I can watch Netflix & as others have said, it was the only thing missing from my phone. Thanks!!

Netflix apparently did some updates adding support for a lot more phones, not us, so it's not official for us, not showing in the market
Don't know what you guys are talking about. I downloaded the full netflix app on my inspire yesterday. Watched Iron Man on it. :3

It didn't used to be in the market for us inspire users at all, I just looked and it is now. Weird though, we're still not on the list of supported phones.

(there were a couple of later netflix app updates, after april or whenver they 1st started, that worked on a lot more phones than they were supposed to, that latest one from my op was the 2nd or 3rd update and the 1st one that worked on non-rooted inspires.)
