Root Working on custom boot animation!

hey guys, decided to try and get rid of this stupid boot animation...I just removed it, and now I am trying to make one for us to use...just thought I would let you know!

Is it bad that I actually like the stock animation? Way better than the old obnoxious "VIRGIN MOBILE!!!" from the Optimus V.

Even having no animation would be better.
ya get sick off listen'in to that after 5 or 6 reboots while workin on the phone! :banghead::banghead:

It's not the worst boot animation ever, but I do miss having Nyan Cat on my phone. :D

So I've just attempted it, and clearing /system/media to replace it with a .zip of Nyan Cat from my old Motorola Triumph only served to get rid of the boot animation and sound. Eh, no big loss.

Anyway I think I owe the forums here a bit for getting my phone back in working order and I know not everyone is a fan of Nyan Cat, so here I have a stock ICS boot animation that I also once used in my Triumph. If superboy4444, or anyone else, can use it to help create one for the Reverb, that'll be cool. :)

ICS boot animation.
YouTube preview.

And Nyan Cat... Just in case. :P

sorry guys...the Samsung boot animations don't work the same way as like any other android based phone...they are weird...I will post the files to remove the boot animation for you, and if you want to remove the sound only, then go to root explorer, go to system/bin and delete the file samsungpowersoundplay or move it to a safe place on your extsd

to remove completely, download attached zip, extract to sd, and move them to system/bin after backing up the files there, you will overwrite files so make sure to back up if you think you might want to add a boot animation again

This is funny, I just posted the same thing in another thread, someone was complaining about the Evo's bootup and I remarked that it's way better than the one on the Triumph or Intercept that I used to own. :p

If i could figure that program out then i could do it...it is so weird though you have to use templates for themes in qmg format...i need to somehow not be using a template

That program is useless. It's for making themes to be marketed on Samsung Apps.Every aspect has to be approved by Samsung Devs or it's rejected. QMG is proprietary. The tools needed aren't available to the public.

I made a copy of the shut down sound and changed the name so that the start up is the same as the shut down sound...WAY BETTER!

would you like to post it as well as include instructions?

Use any manager and rename whatever mp3 you want to use to
PowerOn.ogg or PowerOff.ogg. I'm deodexed. I think stock uses .wav, I can't remember. Copy and paste(overwrite) the files to the above folder. Make sure to change the permissions to rw-r--r--. Also change the ownership to ROOT/ROOT. If you fail in the last steps the files won't stick through a reboot.
