Root working wifi tether app?

yeah i got it if you go to the code.google page for that project they have newer versions that are yellow , thanks man soon as they (boost) get my number ported ill test it out .
 
ok this app works and gives nice speed does anyone have wifi hotspot working on this phone yet ?
 
nope. ive managed to get it to "work" without errors but it took a little finagling and wasnt actually visible or searchable. I know the phone was putting it out because it was draining the battery as if it was but i couldnt find the network at all.
 
the green version is the one that works. it says it has errors but just ignor it. the yellow one doesn't quite work yet. one would really have to search to get it to work in adhoc mode and infrastructure mode doesn't work yet.
 
One quick question. If i use one of those wifi tethering apps will sprint know? Also will they charge me extra if i use it?

I don't think they can. I was going to say they can't because I have boost and they can't charge extra bc I'm prepaid but if you are sprint then I'm not so sure. I'm pretty sure that they can't but I'm not one to give a definite answer if you have sprint

i have been trying for weeks now to get this to work and searched this forum and many others for help. i keep getting the same error to no avail. i saw a lot of peeps saying ignore it but some of the tethering apps say this is an issue on their "about" for the app.
i have a nook that i am trying to tether to my phone(rooted samsung tu)so i can download books when im away from a wifi spot. its the simple touch(not the color) still working on getting it rooted but thats another story for another thread. i just need some help getting this tethering to work on my samsung tu. any one please help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!
btw i have also tried connecting to from my computer so i dont think its my nook that is the issue..

ps i have tried this app and barnacle. neither seem to work.
thanks in advance for any support or help anyone can provide?
 
I just downloaded it for the hell of it and im browsing on my netbook connected to my phone and it works good ive got 3-4 bars of signal here in the basement and its still going at 2 Mbps lol. browsing seems quite fast actually. ill have to look into the adhoc mode not working though but it works just fine.
 
on second look i can't get it to give me internet access on the netbook, it connects to it but it is having dns problems keep getting dns server isn't responding tried changing my dns on the phone rebooted several times can't get it to work.
 
my kids ipods , my sons 3ds which wouldnt with the wifi tether on the market and my linux netbook . try turning tether off and on again when connecting.

Are u talking foxfi? Or barnacle?
I conected to foxfi but didn't try to download a book or anything. Guess I beeter check when I get home. Hope it works
 
ya i was talking about foxfi for some reason it keeps giving me dns errors but i can browse just fine on the phone when its connected even tried using setdns and changed to google and opendns still giving me the same errors, i'm on star-scrom with oc kernel also i dunno if that is affecting anything in anyway though.
