Root Working with AIDE

DsyMnapTic

Android Expert
Mainly directed towards Julian and jetx2x, but also if you have experience working with AIDE, then feel free to offer further insight.:)

I have one primary question at the moment. I'm working on putting an app together (my first) and I'm doing it in fragments. Basically using the pre-built apps they've offered as a blueprint, along with other resourceful books that guide me through the process at the same time as explaining what different lines of code mean and do. Okay so my question is....Once I get everything into their respectable folders (ie: gen, res, layout, src...all that stuff) Will AIDE automatically recognize that I'm setting up my own project and allow me to compile it OR do I have to use their preset projects and build straight from those by just modifying it?

Its smarter than you think... you don't need to go from their template... but its recommended to prevent any issues in setting up the necessary project files

Ahh, okay cool......and "template", errrg, that's the word I was searching for the whole time, lol.
Thanks man, actually I have noticed that the program seems extremely intuitive. I'm surprised at its capability on an android device.

Eclipse waaayyyy more powerful but aide is like its younger brother

Now I know what you meant by the project files, I was wondering what those were (.classpath, .project, proguard.cfg, project.properties, AndroidManifest.xml). However I intentionally set my project up outside the template so I could see by trial and error, what certain files are responsible for. Well, now I see that apparently those project files are what makes everything compile and work directly on android. So now I'm wondering how to build those files as I haven't run across anything yet explaining them. I did notice that some of them say that they're automatically generated, is this done by AIDE itself? I think I can figure out the AndroidManifest.xml, but the other ones right now are confusing me.

These files are auto generated by the android sdk in eclipse... and with aide it automatically creates them itself... they declare how and what to build... just create a new app project and copy those particular files over... btw... the androidmanifest.XML is basically what gives the android system a snapshot of the app... what permissions the app has... what icon to use... what the apps name is... what activities are inside the app... and other miscellaneous configurations
