Help Worried about the transparent strip

I am thinking of buying the Xperia S but honestly the only thing that holds me down is the transparent strip at the bottom of the phone. I am worried that the plastic will get scratched easily and in time it could look like very faded.

Anybody experiencing this? (ones that have the Xperia S for a while now)

I just hope that in time the plastic won't get a strange look after 1 year use.

You don't actually use the plastic strip.
The buttons are above it.

All the strip is is the antenna. There's no need to touch it.

I know because I've tried one demo phone. Another issue would be that there is no info when the phone might get the ICS update.

I bought an Xperia S in march.. even now it's Transparent Strip is absolutely as new as it was when i bought it. The transparent strip- it serves as a Distinct Identity of Xperia NXT phones.. so u must be clear that Sony does not leave it to Deteriorate in time..
