Worth Fighting The Crowds For?

I'm considering trying to pick one of these up at Black Friday next week, and I was wondering if you guys think it will be worth the discount. The 16GB model is 249.99, and the keyboard dock is only 99.99. I think this is a good deal, but I don't know much about tablets and I'm not sure how the release of the Transformer Prime will affect price and availability later. Any suggestions guys?

It's a good price. New tech always makes the price of old tech go down, but I don't thinkit will go low enough that you feel like you got cheated. I paid regular price for mine and don't regret it.

It's a good deal as long as it's not one of those lost leaders "while supplies last" and they only have three in the store.

Its a great deal, the only problem is your probably going to have to waste most of thanksgiving day, standing in a line to get one.

Oh yeah, to answer your question :)
In my opinion, that isn't nearly enough savings to fight the crowds for. MAYBE if it were free, MAYBE, then I'd go fight the crowd. But the time and aggravation are not with the couple hundred bucks saved.

As you may have determined on your own, I really don't like crowds... (and I figure my time is worth something)

Well, some of my friends are going to try and get HDTVs, and actually I'm not able to go back to the homebase for Thanksgiving this year, soooo... I think I'll give it a shot, I have nothing better to do, and it's slightly better than working. Hopefully it will be lively with my friends there.

Eh, it's Best Buy. Should be more waiting in line like a rock than fighting like an animal.

But... it's Best Buy, which means you're going to have to be out there a long time quite possibly to be one of the 10 people that get one.

It's reasons like this why I'm hoping some online site will price match this.

Word is that ASUS is going to keep selling the original Transformer at $399, with no word on what the original dock will be priced at. Even discounted, I don't think it'll go anywhere near $249/$99, so yes, this is a great price for a great tablet.

Best Buy Premier Silver members can get the 16gb Transformer for $249 and the dock for $99 today noon to midnight ET, online only. Price shows up in cart. If the new one wasn't coming out next month (yeah its twice the price), I'd be all over this.

So does anyone know if I could go buy a transformer and keyboard like tonight, and then go in on friday and have them return the difference to me? If this would work I would leave work now and go get one haha.

Nevermind:

I think it's probably safe to assume that the 'refund' trick won't work - or there wouldn't be people camping out in front of stores on Thursday night.

Interesting on their ad it says price good from thurs till sat

Also hhgreg will have the tablet for 300

This probably won't be helpful to anyone at this point, but it might be worth checking out. On a whim, I went to one of the malls that opened up at midnight that had a Best Buy Mobile store in it. I remembered that they carried tablets because I went to check out a Galaxy Tab 8.9 the other day. I drove up at 12:05 - the mall was very crowded (outlet mall) - walked into the BB Mobile store, no lines, no tickets, went up to the counter and got the $249 Transformer + $99 dock, simple as that. Can't say how many there were left, but I didn't have to camp out or stand in any kind of line at all. It might be worth checking the stock at a local Best Buy Mobile if they have them in your area.

Either way, I'm extremely pleased at getting my ONE and ONLY Black Friday target with little to no hassle. I'd all but given up 'til I got lucky. Happy shopping to everyone!

Got mine. Only had to be in line for 4 hours. Probably didn't even need to be iin line that long. Pretty sweet so far, but I am looking forward to ICS.

I got my TF Thursday night/Friday morning from HHGregg. We went to Best Buy and got there at around 9:30 only to find a line stretching around the ENTIRE store and ending back where it started, They started handing out tickets forthe TF at about 10:30 for 249.99 TF, but sadly ran out about 20 people aheadof me.

Dissapointedwewent HHGregg because it was only 50 bucks more there. Stood in line and beat the majority ofthe mad rush into the store and was third person in line for 1 of about 10 (there was 40 at Best Buy). I didnt pick up the keyboard dock yet but will be soon. Love this thing thus far! :)

got mine at 1205 after getting in line at 2230...thought hhgregg had sold out of them when a fellow techie told me *pshht* "they got them hidden behind the keyboard docks, make it quick before someone else sees that"

I reached down and some lady tried ripping it out of my hands, and SHE ALREADY HAD TWO so a lil bit of a hip bump and away I was with one of the last 3 in the store!!! got out of the store at 0145 and got called into work in another city so havent had much opportunity to play with it, but from doing the work that I have been doing on it I'm very pleased..

Lucky she couldn't get to her canister of pepper spray. ;)

well i stood in line for 11 hours for my TF & Keyboard well worth the wait for the over $200 savings... been playing with it for the last couple of days. Been a little frustrated that there are no tutorials on how to use it. I have a windows PC and an Iphone the Android system is a bit different. Any suggestions??? Had major issues with the Android Market timing out on me anyone else have that issue?

On a whim I drove to BB at midnight to see if could get my wife an Acer A100 for $190. By the time I made it to the counter and asked the rep if they had any left and he looked at me like I was crazy. As I was leaving I saw a guy looking over the tablets with a wad of purchase tickets in hand. He gave me a ticket for the Acer he wasn't going to use... SCORE!!!... So I'm standing in line to redeem the ticket and the guy behind me asks if wanted a $250 ASUS ticket.... YES YES.... DOUBLE SCORE!!!! I didn't know much about droid tablets but I'd had a Droid X for over a year.
Well turns out I love the tablets... and the ASUS kicks butt over the Acer even though I like it too... nice and small.. Anyway I LOVE the Transformer and I just grin when I think I got it for $250... Am I lucky or what???
