Worth getting?

I just recently found out that I am able to upgrade my phone and I've been looking at this one for quite some time now. I was looking at the Verizon site and they have certified pre-owned Fascinate listed for $49.99 with a 2 year contract. Would it being a pre-owned be an issue if I were to get one? Or should I hold off until I can get the full amount to buy a brand new one?

Not such a great deal IMO.....I have seen new for the same price through BB or VZW. I got mine for free through BB on Black Friday.

One positive of "pre-owned" is that they've gone through an additional inspection process as compared to new out of the box units.

Of course, we see reports going both ways as to quality of new and of refurbs. The forums are full of posted issues stemming from both. ;)

If I had it to do over, I'd avoid the Fascinate like the plague. While others have had 2.2 for months, we just got a 2.1 update that finally made the GPS functional (for some, sort of) but borked syncing the SD card so you cannot transfer files. Samsung blames Verizon, Verizon blames Samsung. Do yourself a favor and get something else. I wish to God I'd never bought the damned thing.

My wife and I both have Fascinates and we love them. It does everything as advertised and has been rock solid since we purchased them on Black Friday. We have had none of the problems mentioned here in these forms. The only qualm I have is how long it is taking Samsung and Verizon to resolve their differences on upgrading this phone to FROYO.
