Would you recommend the Droid X?

Hi! I'm from the LG Ally community and was hoping I could get your thoughts on this phone. I have a friend that's selling one for a really great price. My Ally is an entry level android phone but I'm wondering how the DX compares. Also, what are some of the good things and bad things about it. I'm used to a keyboard but I know it doesn't have a physical one but everyone says you get used to that.

Also, I've been able to root and rom my Ally. Can that be done easily with the DX?

And what is an esn and how do I check it?

Thanks for any info you can give me.

Ha ha ha, I got a mint condition one I will sell soon! I will even ship a cd with the restore files making the phone unbrickable! Extra battery, stand alone charger, hdmi cable and all!

I want a a quadrillion, gozilion billion dollars!

(Kidding about the price) :D

I came from the Ally community as well and just let me say... you will not be disappointed. Everything as mentioned above (bigger screen, faster processor, more memory etc.) make the android experience much much better, the only thing that you are probably used to which the DX does not have is a physical QWERTY keyboard... I know, it takes a little bit to get used to but it is not at all a deal breaker. I thought having to type on the screen would mean me never getting a newer fancier phone but I got over it real quick once I noticed the increase in performance.

As far as rooting goes, if you can root your Ally using the absurdly long root process it requires you will have no trouble with the DX... and there are plenty of great roms as mentioned previously. I personally am a huge fan of liberty 3 v2.0, its everything I could want and more. So i guess what i'm trying to say is go for the DX and retire your outdated Ally, especially if you can get a good deal on it.

if you come from any phone that has specs like that of the ally, or even the eris(before rooting and roming of course) then you will fall head over heels in love with the DX. until you find out your limited to what you can do with it that is.

i have heard a lot of people with the complaints of GB, i myself have not experienced any issue with GB.

what exactly is going on with your phone max that makes it have a mind of its own?

I have had mine for almost 2 years now, and since I rooted it I enjoy it more than ever. Im not even considrring changing phones at this point. I love the form factor most of all.
