Wow. What ever happened to being "durable"

I had a Triumph, didn't baby it at all, and it took a 20 ft. fall to live to see another day. (No crack on the screen, little to no body damage.)

Now lets go to now-It is in its case and it falls an will not boot up. Not from the ceiling. Not from my wait, but from my desk chair.

If I were you guys... I'd take good care of this phone. Or just get another one all together.

Sorry to hear that dude,I guess it all depends on how it falls. I have dropped mine 3times so far in one month without a case. Not one thing came of it, I'm shocked actually .. they do feel a lot cheaper as far as the phone chassis goes..

ive dropped mine a few times from about a 5 foot height onto solid wood flooring, besides the instant OH SHIT reaction, still not even a single scratch....

Wow, that sucks. Despite the heft of this phone compared to the Triumph, I feel like I'm going to touch through the screen sometimes. I'm not rough on my phones, but this one feels particularly fragile to me.

It fell face down, which made me think I instantly broke the screen, but I didn't....

I don't know. I just think they should be just slightly more durable than that.

that really does suck. oh, how i miss the good ole days of throwing the old brick gameboy around with no issue

Maybe try not dropping your expensive electronic devices? I really don't get this, but lots of people seem unable to hold onto their phone. I guess it explains the case phenomenon, and also why it's a waste of time and money, since as demonstrated here, a case doesn't really do much. Take a little responsibility for your stuff, that will go a lot farther than any case. </dad>

and people have the gall to look at me funny when I bulk up my phone with an Otterbox Defender LOL - this thread is why they exist!

In theory this phone is more durable than the Triumph, it has an aluminum unibody as opposed to a plastic frame. Some people break their necks after a 5 foot fall while others walk away from a 50 footer with a sprained ankle. As with all things in life, it's the luck of the draw.

Mine fell onto a very hard floor from 7 feet and only distorted the battery cover.

Check and make sure your battery didn't come unseated, some have slightly loose batteries and yours may have shifted just enough.

I just wiped my @#$ with $300, so whatevers... lol :smokingsomb: its all realitive man..

I agree with you totally, but sometimes accidents just happen man. Ill give a few personal examples. My optimus v got thrown 20 feet by a very jelous ex, luckily it landed in a moss patch after flying in between and narrowly avoiding 2giant hemlock trees.it was fine..

Next example is some of us like to party, and naturally accidents happen. My friend accidently projectile vomited on my old triumph, I had it laying flat on the table where we were all standing around. Well the sheer force of the vomit knocked it clean off of the table, when it hit the ground not a thing wrong...except for the fact that it was quite a long cleaning process on the phone after that...lol

Exciting life...best thing that ever happens to my phones is getting dropped in the toilet.

I do take care of my stuff-but sometimes accidents do happen (I think you understand that) and the mere fact that the phone did what it did was as someone else said "a luck of the draw." I just find it "disturbing" (if that is even the word to use) that it couldn't take a fall better than that... if it had broken glass... no biggie. But not turning on... that's a different story. Lesson learned, however.

If it's not a battery issue then what may have happened is that one of the thousands of micro soldered joints may have been cold soldered and unfortunately came loose. This isn't really a durability issue but a manufacturing defect. As with all phones these unfortunately exist but easily remedied by a warranty replacement. As personally proven by my going through 6 replacement Triumphs.

I don't know. I just know that I was amazed to find my Triumph alive and kicking. I was also amazed when my Evo didn't do anything. I now have a new one, so all is well in (my) world. For now.

Yeah I know. Glad you got a new one. You know the people I'm talking about though... Can't go a day without dropping their phone...again. Then whining about it like it's someone else's fault.

LOL. Those are the people who drop it all the time and wonder why it looks like crap, or worse, doesn't work right.

Buy the $5 Insurance and wait about 4-15 Days, I got my replacement in about 3 Days.

Why? It's a manufacturing defect that will be replaced under warranty. What you are suggesting is making a fraudulent, felonious insurance claim. Shame on you!

one fall, about 4 feet out of hand to cement. Couple scratches but still all good. Just told myself that morning I wasn't gonna drop this phone. Guess I wasn't used to the size yet coming from an op V

This phone has awesome cases I got a outer box rubber case on clearance at rat shack for 12 bucks and there are hybrid cases for 30 that look sweet. Anyway try fiddling with ur battery or another battery that is a fragile concern
