Help writing on the calendar?

I enter into handwriting mode on the calendar and annotate on a number/date, though after I press the checkmark it seems to disappear. How is this supposed to work?

the stock calendar? For the life of me I couldn't figure out a good use for the stock one so I now use business calendar pro and have no issues writing in appts, etc, with the pen. I was at the point of only figuring out how to write on the calendar day itself, couldn't figure out how to include details...maybe I was missing something

Mine works fine. Tap on the date with the S pen opens up the appt. Tap for title and write in the darkened area in the bottom 1/2 of the screen. Tap on "done" as words come up correctly. Basically just go through it the same as if you were typing. Tap on "save" in the top right corner.

What method do you use to enter handwriting mode?

tapping on the key beside the space bar. You may have it set as a comma (or something different), but what you need is the "T" with the stylus laying beside it. Tap on that will give you stylus mode.
