wtf verizon

So im currently on my 2nd eris. Got my 1st refurb in october and it worked fine until around mid february. Automatic left scrolling trackball, random rebooting, excessive lag (even after factory reset) are still happening as if it was the 1st eris I had. Called vzw just now and talked to them for a good 45 minutes to no avail. Being that my warranty is up (even though i pay insurance) i cant get a refurb eris or any other phone for that matter. She said i had the option to pay for a phone at discount price but i need to save some money because we had a hail storm last night and my car is all dinged up. "Maybe you can just wait it out til close to your upgrade" she said...even though my upgrade is in september. What a waste of time talking to those people.

You have insurance and they won't get you a refurb?? Wow...

I am also still hanging on to my little Eris and have many of the same issue you have. Mainly the trackball and the lag are what gets to me and my upgrade is also not till Sept. I guess I don't even have to try and call them :(

Assurion is the insurance carrier. Call them and they will get you a refurb. All you have to do is pay the deductible unless they warranty the refurb that they sent you. If the phone is out of warranty, Verizon won't do anything unless you find just the right person and then they may find a way to hook you up.

Verizon begged me to take a replacement of my out of warranty Eris when I was trying to report a network problem. The first thing you say when you call Verizon is "I need to escalate this call". You have to talk to a tier 2 rep. If you aren't getting anywhere tell them that you are switching carriers. If that doesn't help, hang up and call again. Do this during normal business hours.

So i shouldnt even bother going to the vzw store tomorrow? Just call Asurion?

You can try what bberry suggested, or call Asurion. If the phone is out of Verizon's warranty and you can't get anywhere with them, Asurion will get you a refurb. May cost you your deductible, but that's what insurance is for. My wife is on her 3rd Eris. The first was her fault and the second was the trackball did the scroll to the left issue. When the second one messed up, Asurion warrantied it so I didn't have to pay the deductible.

Ok so i called *611 today and talked to a gentleman who seemed to care less about me or my issue...hung up on him and called back 5 minutes later and talked with a nice woman for about 30 minutes. She offered that i can pay for a certified phone or another eris. I told her that i have no interest in either as i want to save money to use to purchase a NEW phone in september when it is time for me to upgrade, and i have lost fate in the eris all together. She continued to tell me that "she understands" and asked me to hold for a second while she looks into something for me. After being on hold for no more than 5 minutes, she came back on and told me that records show that i am a good customer and they value my business...and said shes going to get me into a new phone...an INCREDIBLE :D Persistence pays off for sure and getting the right person and choosing the best way to talk to that person is key.
