Help X:Randomly unresponsive and or lagging

I've had my X for close to a year now and randomly like today for example, my touch screen becomes unresponsive. It gets stuck in whatever screen its on (the text message screen today) and won't let me go anywhere else, text, answer a call, nothing. I have pulled the battery 5 times today. And when I do get it to another screen, and start typing something, I can get the whole sentence typed out before anything will ever show up. This seems to me most seen in texts and yahoo im's. The reboot will help for a few hours but it won't stay working right. Any suggestions? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Well, you could always try a factory reset. I hate to suggest it, but what you could do is load your apps back one at a time to try and identify if there's a culprit

Unplug your sdcard and see if that changes anything. Your card might be failing.

You'll have to pull the battery to get to the card.

Couldn't the OP just go into SETTINGS, SD CARD, and UNMOUNT to achieve the same effect, or is there a particular reason I'm unaware of that requires it to be physically removed?
