XFL 2023

It may be related to Houston's oil industry now, but "roughnecks" was originally just a term for a person that was rough. A lot of people feel it's derogatory, like calling someone a Redneck for example.

I'm sure they meant no harm and were going edgy, but definitely not a name I can get behind. This is a stone's throw from "Redskins". When you have the chance to name your teams at this point in the world, why pick something that's borderline offensive?

With the second week in the books for the North, The Defenders and Battlehawks are undefeated and will face off next week.
The South will play their second games tomorrow.

There are three undefeated teams after two weeks of play. Two teams in the North division and one from the South. I'm finding the games fairly entertaining. It's not NFL but it is elongating my football viewing window. I'm glad the games are being aired.

I'm guessing that the playbook of a XFL team would have little value. :) It's pretty low life to sell out one's team. I can't believe it really happened it's so unimaginable.

I didn't watch the game. I assume that the Vipers are still winless.
Yep. The gave up a 45 yard TD on 4th & 2.

I watched the last half of the Roughnecks vs Brahmas tonight. The Roughnecks have a decent defense and won the game. They are the only team without a loss in the South and the Defenders are the only undefeated team in the North. I think they play each team in their division twice and play each team out of the division once making a 10 week season. A two week post season which I only assume is a divisional week and a championship week. The two teams that are undefeated thus far see each other week six. I've enjoyed what I watched so far.

The games have been great. I have been very impressed with the league so far. The ratings apparently took a big nose dive from Week 1 to Week 2, so it should be interesting to see what Week 3 brings. But overall, the games have been competitive and the players are giving it their all. The RB for the Roughnecks last night was running thru brick walls on every play.

The XFL need more cameras on field and in the air, is the XFL so poor they can't afford nets at the Field goal stage... I was watching the Vegas Vipers and the kicker kicked a field goal and the ball went out of the Stadium .

I think the sport is running on a shoestring budget. It's fun enough to watch and I hope it survives to play another season. I guess the cost of a couple of nets and a couple of guys to pull them up when needed exceeds the cost of a few footballs. :) ....until they put someone's eye out. :)

That would be a fun watch. I don't think either league will ever compete on the level of the NFL. They aren't really rival leagues like the old AFL NFL leagues.
