Root XML compile

so i have decompiled some XML files and edited them... now i need to know how to compile a XML file so i can replace some of the layout files in framework.apk so i can try and make a really nice theme for you guys.

What did you use to decompile them?

i used apk manager 4.9

Not sure though. I wasn't able to compile anything with that version

there is a working version. but if any .9.png files (for ex. files in drawable-mpdi folder) are patched incorrectly it won't recompile. i've had massive headaches about this

well i downloaded v5.0.1 of apkmananger and it did let me compile it... i did what blue said to do for changing the clock to the center but i guess i didnt change the right line in the status_bar.xml because the clock is still over to the right. this i getting very hard, and i can find ways to change this for 2.3 but cant find n e thing about the clock in 2.2, so i guess i just want to change the one thing that cant be done!!

quick question. how did you customize your png files? are you using gimp or any type of image editor? or off from other themes?

I use paint.net it's freeware

Oh yeah here's A pdf file that provides some good understanding of 9.png, xml, hex edit's, and more
It also has links to all kinds of helpful tools and tutorials.

Not sure if anyone has seen this. But I thought it might help if you haven't
