XO Skins Droid scratch protector

So after installing some new apps on my droid I went to xoskins and ordered one for my droid. I had one before on my nexus one and it is by far the best I have used. No orange peel and an easy install. I'm glad I waited cus the have 40% off for presidents day.

With the DROID having Gorilla Glass, are these really necessary? I'm wondering what other advantage besides scratch protection I may not know about.

I read in another topic that Gorilla glass can still scratch from sand.. I like to spend a lot of time in my shop so better safe than sorry. I have the full body so it covers more than just the screen.

There a video of sand tests on gorilla glass anywhere? I have been to their site and it looks very strong...

There's another topic here that talks about sand scratches. I'll add that I scratched my Gorilla glass of my 2-month old Droid by laying it face-down on my desk and replacing the battery cover. The scratch is 1/2" long and you can feel it with your fingernail. I don't know what did it, but sand would be a reasonable guess, it being winter and all in Minnesota.

Yeah, I started the topic Has anyone scratched their gorilla glass? since I didn't get a response.

Glad I ordered.. just gotta be careful till it gets here.
