Help Xoom grabs wrong IP

New Wifi-only xoom. I have a bit of an unusual setup at home with a T1 coming into a DLink Router with WPA. Then that goes to a switch from one port and another wireless (Linksys) for another. The reason for this is I have a Sprint Airrave that can't work through the switch so thinks sprout 2 directions. The network requires fixed ip. On mylaptop, I simply put in an ip, dns, etc and no problem. It works on our dvr, WII, all other devices. I put a free ip, dns, gateway in the xoom and it shows connected. But it will not connect to the internet. When I look at the IP, it has chosen a 192.168.2.xx address. Our network is all 192.168.0.xx address. It is grabbing the .2 address from the Linksys which will not pass through to the T-1! Only the .0 addresses will pass through. No idea why it is even acquiring an address when I input a static!

What network SSID is the Xoom connecting to? It sounds like it's connecting to the wireless SSID of the Linksys; and that the Linksys is set up for dynamic IP address allocation. Should it connect to the wireless of the DLINK instead?

I am not a IT guy but I work with them all the time, I install security DVR's and IP access control etc. and a lot of times they ask me for the mac address and they program that in the hub/router etc. and whenever the device I am installing connects it will always get the same I.P. address. They make me assign my device as DHCP. Not sure how to do this but I know it works.

thats called DHCP reservation. dont think the op is using that but could be an idea if their network router supports it...

Any thoughts of making this DHCP? This would make it allot easier for you and any future devices you want to connect to your switch. There's no reason for a device to require a static IP, even the Airave. I use an Airave as well and it's connected to my network using DHCP.
