Xoom vs Galaxy tab 10.1

Should I get the Xoom or Galaxy tab, also how do you add music, videos, apps, and more on them, can i do it throught itunes

I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1, 32GB. I use a mac, as well. I am thinking about exchanging for the Xoom, but I am not sure yet.

You cannot use iTunes to sync media to an Android tablet. The closest available option is Doubletwist. If you want to use iTunes, simply put, get an iPad.

As far as syncing media, I cannot do that with my current set up. There is no way to connect a 10.1 Tab to a Mac, at this time. I sync small files through DropBox. All of my music is with Google Music, so I can stream and download if need be from the Google service.

My wife has an iPad. The Tab is very similar in feel. It's light, well built, and has a brilliant screen.

I had a Xoom and took it back after it died. Had it not died I would have taken it back anyway. It was just too heavy. You may not feel the weight at first but you certainly do after holding it for a while (5 minutes plus). The Galaxy Tab 10.1 doesn't seem to have such issues. I don't yet own the GT but after owning the Xoom for 2 months I would say get the GT.

I would probably go with the SGT 10.1 just because its thinner and absolutely gorgeous. But if you need SD card and that sort of thing then you should go for the Xoom.

Also I alrdy have the SGT and its awesome!

I had the Xoom for 13 days and when the SGT 10.1 was released I bought one. I used them side by side for 2 days, then decided that the SGT was better for me. Xoom is much heavier, although built very well. The SGT has a far superior screen and marginally better battery life. I also fought with the Xoom volume controls as they are oddly placed and difficult to use without supporting it very well. On the other hand, the SGT volume controls are very easy to hit accidentally. I still rather the SGT 10.1 for it's light and thin feel.

I owned both as well and I just returned my Xoom as well.

I have had both two and i like the tab better,But i will be returning it and waiting to try out the thrive and than make my decision on which one to buy and keep.

I have both and have one more week before I run out of time to return the Xoom. Now I hear that the Xoom might have the MicroSD slot activated soon, I'm still trying to weigh which one is preferable. What I didn't expect is how much of a difference the weight of the SGT was over the Xoom. If I could not keep both - I think so far I'm leaning toward the SGT.

This about sums it up. Both are excellent tablets and a step forward. The Xoom is heavy but feels much higher quality than the Tab. The Tab is lighter and easier to hold so a bit more pleasant to use.

Honestly you don't go wrong with either.

Why do you say the xoom is higher quality?

Why do you say the xoom is higher quality?

I said it FEELS higher quality. The back of the Xoom is actually metal while the Tab is plastic.

Also as some of us with the IO tabs have seen the adhesive they use to hold the glass on was not strong enough. Two corners on my tab the glass is coming up a millimeter or so.

Do you think it would or could be as light as it is with a metal back?

Not at all. Unfortunately no :( I like the weight of the Tab a lot but love the back of the Xoom. If I could merge both into one product it would own.

Hopefully all of the oem's work out the kinks in design before the quad core kal-el quad core devices release this fall.

This isnt even a question. The xoom is a second rate product compared to the Tab 10. Its completely out classes my the samsung tab 10.

Dont even think about getting the xoom, it uses a cheap washed out screen with poor viewing angles where the samsung tab 10 uses its own very high quality PLS screen with amazing viewing angles.

The screen ALONE is enough to pick the tab 10 over the xoom.

Dont bother with the Asus Transformer, the battery life sucks compared to xoom and Tab 10 and it just as thick and bulky as the xoom.

The material of the back of a tablet is really a moot point. I have not yet seen one single tablet owner who is not using a tablet cover. :)

agreed. I have had my Tab in the OEM bookcase cover since I bought it. I took it out a couple of days ago because I had forgotten what the back looked like lol.
