Help Xperia Arc Wi-Fi connection problems (may apply to PLAY, neo & pro too)

Thanks. All updates did not work, (no time issue; even when my Buffalo cannot get date/time from time-server, everything connected fine until when my MBP was on. It ruled!).

Until one day (a couple of weeks earlier in Jan), for no reason, everything is now connected fine. No firmware update for my SE and S. Don't know how this worked out; maybe due to certain silent upgrade of Google applications when connected.
:p

Indeed, I am aware of that thread and I believe on of my colleagues is investigating this at the moment. Hopefully we will have answer shortly.

Finger crossed - if this problem is solved I would be 100% happy with this otherwise fantastically impresive smartphone.

You don't have to bother. I can do this for you. Here is what you have written on the Sony Support Forum.

"I must point out that the issue you described of the router itself rebooting when connected is not a common one. You will also need to be aware that many of the incompatibilities or issues are specific to the Android system and are not specific to any particular make or model of handset. With this being the case due to the very rare nature of this problem updating your routers firmware is very much a viable solution. I can state this as fact having used all of our Android phones with a large number of different hotspots without experiencing this particular problem. I have had others; however most of these were resolved with either updates or the use of applications such as Wifistatic."

In my opinion it means just that you simply don't care about your costumers.

And by the way, Wifistatic doesn't wrk either, I am not sure how is this possible that with such an appproach to your costumers you still exist !

I think you may have misunderstood my intentions alter95. If we did not care we would not try to assist yourself and others getting your WiFi problem resolved. We do have a wide variety of ways to resolve many of the potential issues someone may experience when it comes to connection to router and you will find that they are not all tied to one particular issue. For example if updating a routers firmware resolves a problem that would imply that router manufacturers had identified an issue regarding how the routers communicate with newer operating systems such as Android and have applied a fix, we could argue that this is an Android problem however after many updates to the Android operating system it turned out that the router itself needed updating. Please do not assume that I ma again reflecting blame, when we do come across genuine issue we do put a lot of effort in trying to resolve them and as outlined above many of the issues that have been raised are being looked into as we speak.

Hi I have read thru this thread and I envy those who managed to solve the problem with a router tweak, but it hasn't worked for me.

I bought a SE Arc S last week and the wifi connected to my Sky router instantly and even worked outside the house never failing. Unfortunately I had an issue with a faulty screen and had to get a replacement handset, the new handset will not connect to any router!

Ok if it is not connecting to any router then this implies a bit more of a problem. I would advise as first step to run a software update:

Update service - Sony Smartphones (Global UK English)

Problem: sony ericsson xperia arc s cannot connect to home network/wifi.

How i solved it: i just updated my sony ericssonn xperia arc s and gladly it connected to my wireless network at home :) upgrade it to android 4.0.3.. hope this helps thanks!

My Dad got an xperia arc in May. He did an update a couple of weeks a go before he went away for a few days (in this country) and when he's come home he has been experiencing problems with wifi. He used it in the hotel while away and also tried to tether to his laptop which wasnt very sccessful either. it is saying it is connected in settings but isnt getting the wifi symbol on the front of his screen or connecting to web pages. Not sure what the problem may be and would recommend any suggestions on how to fix it. My iphone connects fine to the router as do both the laptops in the house.
Thanks in advance
