Root xtrSENSE

I was just looking at this ROM on XDA. How does it perform? Are there any bugs?

Since I rooted my Eris About 6 months ago I was running Nonsensikal Froyo and now GSB. I getting kinda tired w/ the loooks of these roms. I was thinking about running one w/ sense again. I havent had sense since rooting. Is all the lag gone w/ this rom?

Will I need to do anything different than I do w/ the other roms when flashing?

Thanks...

^^ when people talk about roms being "quick", what they mean "compared to everything else that is not xtr"

its the golden standard. unless you can't live without froyo or cyanogen, get it.

Can't wait for plain xtrrom though

A lot of questions.

I've been running since this morning. So far, performance is just fine. I haven't made or received any calls, but I have a bit over 200 messages and 100 calls in my call log (I restored them). We'll see what happens.

I'm not noticing any lag yet - I've been running since this morning. As I suspected, battery life is a bit less than Froyo/GB ROMs. Also, I wish there was a way to adjust auto backlight - this thing is a lot brighter than I prefer, but I also prefer auto, so I don't have to blindly try to change it when I step out into a bright day.

The bright side? WiFi connects instantly, I love the Sense toggle widgets.

Flash procedure is simple - Nandroid backup, wipe data/factory refresh, flash the ROM, reboot the phone.

+1, these xtr roms are VERY smooth and fast...no lag at all! I'm installing GSB 2.0 now, but may switch back to xtrROM in a few weeks after I see how 2.0 is.

I guess I was a little early in announcing this - I thought that I saw tat 5.0 was official on the 10th, but I think it hit for good last night.

I'm spending the day trying to run Conap's CFS kernel with the smartass governor to see if it saves battery life while still giving good performance. We'll see how it goes.

I am running xtrsense and I want to flash the updated version. I would like to put in a new sd card. Is there anything I need to do before flashing the updated version?

That's going to make it a little more complicated. You'll have to remember to do a Nandroid+ext with your old SD card in the phone. Then, with the new card, start in Recovery, re-partition the card and convert the ext2 partition to ext3.

Next I would copy over your Nandroid folder to the new SD Card, plus the xtrsense5.0.zip file.

Next, Nandroid restore, just to get your apps back into the SD card's ext3 partition.

Next, install xtrsense5.0.zip over what you have with your old xtrsense. I would think that you need to do a full data wipe first, though you can try flashing over what you have already.

Once you have it installed, you can run the apps2sd gscript command to activate apps2sd and I am pretty sure that xtrSENSE will recognize your apps and activate them then.

As long as you have that Nandroid+ext backup, you can always go back to what you have now and try again.

I'm back to stock (Zanfur) kernel. It was running fine most of the day, but I had a complete freeze that required a battery pull an hour ago.

Doogald, does this rom seem like a good daily driver? I flashed it and waiting on it to load to put on my reg phone. Oh and I'm asking this question in here cause you're the OP so I know you're watching this one. JUST KIDDING JUST KIDDING don't snach me thru the computer and give me a lashing.:D:D

I did a clean wipe/flash of xtrSense5 over xtrSense4.6 last night an so far so good. I reinstalled all my apps, and it looks like there is a lot more space available. Could be that my call/sms history and has been wiped clean.

It sure is. I haven't run into the same bugs that I always had with stock, though it's only been a few days. But it's an excellent ROM.

Pros: everything works. Great camera, lots of apps space, as cache2cache is built-in. You can dial *228 and get the keypad. Market is rock-solid and always works.

Cons: Gmail client stinks compared with Froyo/GB. Browser is pretty slow. Tends to burn battery faster than Cyanogen ROMs.

None of my apps synced. The online market says there installed but there not on the phone.

That market sync thing was introduced with Froyo. 2.1 ROMs will not do that. Appbrain, Titanium Backup, MyBackup Pro - these are your friends.

Well I flashed this rom today. So far I love it. Its quicker and less laggy then the prior rom I was running (GSB). Im lovin sense, it been awhile since I've used it. I think I missed it.....

Just wanted to thank Doogald for the help again. I flashed the updated xtrSENSE and everything turned out great!

Hey gang. Looking for some help. I tried the "Universal Root for Dummies". Thought I did everything right. But, when I got to the part of "flash new rom from SD card", the only zip file it sees is Gscript lite, NOT the xtrSense that I had downloaded.

So. I did the "One click Root" app. Which worked. But, I'd still like to try xtrSense. Again, I have the file listed on my SD card. But, when I re-boot, to try to switch to xrtSense. It does NOT come up.

Any suggestions????? THANX

Is xtrSENSE.5.zip file in the root of the SD card, or is it in a folder (such as the Downloads folder?) The file must be in the root of the SD card, not in a folder.

Upgraded from 4.6.1 - it took 4 minutes. Works like a charm.

Question: I had an app that I cannot find: it allowed to quickly restart/reboot and select
the boot option. The icon looked like a small triangle. Anyone remembers what app it could be?
