Yamgo - streaming tv to desire (uk)

Ok, so I've had Yamgo for a week or so on my Desire and it has worked every day no problems, I've actually been really impressed. I go on this morning as usual to watch some pre-world cup chat on BBC and after the usual loading spiral I get an 'unable to connect to server' message on EVERY damn channel!! Could this have happened at a worse time?! I'm using the pre-loaded browser in 'mobile view' and have changed no settings since it last worked.

Any help guys? Please help a HTC brother in distress.

Vodafone UK have confirmed that they are blocking streaming services such are Yamgo. They are blaming OFCOM rules and say they have no choice but to block adult content on RTSP streams. I also understand that Yamgo requested that their site be white listed, and the request was refused.

The whole things smacks of censorship, either by OFCOM or Vodafone.

i personally dont think vodafones decision has got anything to do with censorship, its all to do with bandwidth, they dont want hundreds of thousands of people streaming worldcup footage over there already inadequate 3g network, especially if there not going to be getting any more money out of you.

the whole 3g capacity issue on all networks needs to be addressed before we start dropping to the bottom of the worlds league tables just like we are on the home broadband front where UK ranked 33rd in the word behind Lithuania and Liechtenstein!!!!!

we're heading exactly the same way with 3g i fear.

Its probably because of the time. i.e. everyone wanting to conenct at the saem time and overloading the servers.

thing is that the telly adverts for ITV shows a guy walking down a street whilst watching the World Cup footie on his mobile. If mobile companies can't cope with the demand then they shouldn't advertise this or advertise that the service can be viewed via (the mobile companies that offer this).

Also BBC say that the games can be viewed via mobile.

Well its not ITV's fault if yamgo can't supply the demand for the service. As far as ITV are concerned their service can be viewed that way. However, yes you would expect them to talk to each other and work out the demand before placing a stupid advert like that. Not that ive seen it.

Sorry can someone please confirm the situation regarding Yamgo (and maybe even TVCatchup) on Vodafone ?

Will they both only work on Wifi ?

Have read through the thread and it appears by problem with Yamgo is a bit of a mix of the issues others have suffered. As intro I have the HTC Desire on Orange and I have previously been able to view online video via phone (e.g. YouTube).

Like others, my phone is identified as a HTC Bravo by Yamgo. Don't know if this is relevant given it is the US product name but would be interested to know if anyone else has had their phone recognised as Desire.

I could not get Yamgo to work via wifi or mobile data using the native browser or Opera, despite setting them to allow mobile sites. I therefore installed the Dolphin HD browser and was able to get Yamgo working via mobile data connection (Edge so pretty dire quality) and using the streaming media player. However I could not get it working through Wifi. I've had a good browse around the menus and cannot find any wifi settings that allow or block video streaming.

Anybody got any ideas as to where I should look next to get it working via dolphon on Wifi?

I have exactly the same issues with MyPlayer, Yamgo and tvCatchup, all work fine on wifi, none work at all on any mobile connection.

its bloody O2....! so angry.

Carsngadgets, I have the exact opposite problem, can get Yamgo and MyPlayer working via 3G but not Wifi. Presume it is a firewall \ port settings issue but no idea what port I am meant to have open.
