Help Yet another newbie with a question

Hi just introducing myself and asking a first question.

When I say newbie , I mean newbie , I dont even own an android phone yet
but i will do next month when my present phone contract expires.

I am planning on getting an HTC Sensation XE

I have never owned an android phone before so all this downloading apps business is new to me .

If I understand it right I download apps from the market via my phone , but my question is ,,,,,

While I wait for my phone is it possible to start downloading the apps
with my PC and then later when the phone arrives transfer from my PC to the phone . I also asume that this way I am also not using up my data allowance

Hope some one can advise

Don

Hi Don. :ciao:

Welcome to Android Forums. I've moved your thread over to the Sensation XE forums since your planning on getting this phone. You can find all sort of interesting info, hints and tips on this device.

As far your question, I believe mpw has already gave you some good advice.

Lookin forward to see you on the forums.

Add your account to a friends Android; visit the 'Play' store and download any free app to their phone; delete your account from their phone, and the app if they want.

I believe your account will now be linked to the 'Play' store; visit it from your PC and you should be able to start 'downloading'; you won't actually be downloading though.

Once you have your new phone you'll log on to the 'Play' store using the same google account as before, your new phone will link and download your apps I believe.

Obviously you'll want to be at home/near wifi when you first set up your phone I assume!

Or take the first steps above and save all apps in your browser bookmarks. When you get the phone, you don't have to search for the apps anymore.

And yes, use WiFi if ur planning on setting up a list of apps you want to download when you get it.

Thanks everyone for the replies
and apologies for posting in the wrong forum originally

One last question , when you say use wifi am I correct thinking that this then uses my PC's broadband allowance ( which is unlimited downloads) rather than the phones data allowance ? ( sorry that my questions are so noob )
