Help Yikes, uninstall Google Goggles!

I've been trying to deal with the battery issue on this phone for the last couple of days. It wasn't lasting nearly long enough - as in, not making it through the day even in standby mode.

I got ATK and that helped a lot, but I noticed in my battery status that Google Goggles was accounting for 69% of the usage! It didn't show up on the ATK task list or my list of running services so the only thing I could do was uninstall it. I'll see if that made a difference by tomorrow.

Are you sure that you didn't just leave it running?

Back out of running apps by using the return button. Or apps>running>force stop.

I use GG and have had no excessive draining issues.

I had that happen with GG, and I tried force stopping, and it still came up as the biggest use of my battery. But when I shut off my phone and turned it back on it has been up there since. I did notice however that Android System wasn't listed when GG was eating all the power up, somehow it was shifting the blame?

I've had Goggles installed for a month and a half without incident. It only runs when it is supposed to and has not caused any unusual battery drain on my V.

I've noticed that if I have Goggles running (showing the camera screen interface) my screen never dims and the lock screen never comes on. The phone just sits there indefinitely, with the display on, waiting for me to take a picture of something. Maybe you did "leave it on" and your battery usage was attributable to having the phone sitting with the display going full blast for an extended period? With the type of display on the V, an all black image takes as much energy to display as an all white image. Even if the phone was laid down on a table with the phone pointing at the table top, you'd be burning up battery displaying the camera's blacked out view of the desk.

Goggles accounts for 90% of my battery consumption after using it to take a couple of pics!
Think it has a bit of a bug...

Perhaps you misunderstand the Battery Use screen. This number only refers to the time when the app is actually running (in the foreground, visible on the screen.) It is neither surprising nor unusual

I have the same problem with GG.

It happens sometimes with Maps too. Really irritating. I can go from full battery to 30% in the course of a few hours because they keep running when I've backed out of them.

When you've got a hammer, everything looks like a nail. ;)

When you're freaking out about your battery, every app looks like a possible or likely culprit.

I know that many people strong feel the same. The problem is that it's really difficult to verify this objectively. I've never seen this problem with Google Maps. I can see where it can seem as if Maps keept burning cycles in the background. This may happen when other location-based apps like Latitude, Foursquare, etc. keep periodically enabling GPS to update your location. (GPS does suck on the battery when it is used

I think there is some sort of bug with goggles. Even when it is in the back ground, not being used at all, it continues to the single biggest consumer of battery (or CPU cycles).
The only way I have found to stop it acting like this after it has been use is to turn the phone off then on again - and then not start Goggles again.

Definitely a bug. Take 1 picture, with the app running for less than a minute, and Goggles shows to be 85-95% of battery usage. Stays at that until next charge, no other app does this. This never use to happen, so it must have been one of the updates.

Right now after 2 days since charge, AboutPhone/BatteyUse/Goggles = 75%

Battery History/Sensor Usage/Goggles says 4 days-40 minutes, big blue bar across full width.

So Googles has been using a sensor for 4 days, but it was charged 2 days ago... makes a lot of "sense". I uninstalled and reinstalled, same problem. It really doesn't seem to effect my battery drain, so must just be a "sensing" bug.
