Root You may loose root after disabling USB debugging

Can anyone confirm that I am not the only one that looses root after disabling USB debugging?

Need people to confirm so that if it is a problem for everyone and not just me, I'll update my rooting guide to include not tp disable usb debugging once rooted or root may be lost.

After disabling USB debugging you guys do loose root, simply just run the framaroot.apk and root again and reboot and everything will stay intact, you wont have to uninstall superuser or anything.

Trying it now. I used root checker, after turning off USB debugging, but that app hung up. Going to try it again with USB debugging on.

Yes, with USB debugging turned off, Root Checker hung up. After I reinstalled and rebooted, I turned on USB debugging and tried Root Checker again.. I have a screen saying"Congratulations! This device has root access!"

I didn't lose root when I disabled usb debugging...at least not yet. Do I need to reboot it and see, maybe?

Yeah i came across the same problem. I disabled usb debugging and root checker would hang up. i just enabled it again to gain root access. didnt need to install and reboot allover

Hey guys, just ran across this thread...

I've never heard of disabling USB debugging disabling root for any device...that just blows me away .

There are several ways to test root (Joey Krim's Root Checker is just one of them)...can you guys try downloading and installing Android Terminal Emulator (free, awesome app from the Play Store) and testing your root access via typing the "su" command from the shell prompt that the terminal emulator gives you after you've turned off USB debugging? You should see the "$" prompt change into the "#" prompt after the su command (and you should be prompted by your Superuser app to allow root for Android Terminal Emulator).

Perphas it's just Root Checker's method of testing root that is impacted by the USB debugging thing? (although I can't imagine what that would be...).

Cheers and welcome to our AndroidForums, Shaz306!

the same happens with my ZTE Crescent / Orange San Francisco II. Tried pretty much every root apk available without success, then found out about adb (since I got Ubuntu on my pc). Fast-forward about 100+ attempts, amid all the corrupted files and broken download links, I was able to find a version of clockwork recovery (6.0.0.8) that could be flashed onto the phone. When that finally happened I felt like a champ.:D

It was possible then to get superuser v3.2, Root checker, Titanium backup and ROM manager. I haven't flashed any Roms yet, or any other tweaking, only a backup for the current OS. Since then, been doing some more research for the most stable and functional ones available for my device. Then I noticed this issue - while usb debugging is disabled, I've got no root access. Is this normal?

If anyone care to shed some light, all inputs are much appreciated.
