You tube progress bar, why do I have to slide it?

Why is it when navigating to different spots in the video timeline (for example if I want to go straight to halfway through) that I have to actually slide my finger (or mouse pointer) on the progress line/bar? It's very annoying and inaccurate.

Rather than just pressing on the spot I want to go to, like in Netflix for example - or with You Tube on PC.

Have I missed something?

IT has been like that forever. Depending on what kind of phone you got too, could be simple as if you put is on landscape vs. portrait too.
