Your #1 root app?

funkylogik

share the love peeps ;)
Whats the best playstore app that requires root access that you'd use as a reason for why people should root?
I love STweaks but thats quite a device/kernel specific app so id have to go with the old tried and tested excellent app Titanium Backup Pro :)

And as a wildcard ill throw in ClockSync (youd be amazed at how quickly your device loses track of time)

Titanium backup for me as well. I always keep all of my apps backed up to my box account. I've restored apps from 3 mobiles ago along with the data.

Root explorer (or any other root level file explorer) is a great reason to root as well.

That's like asking what's your favorite food item that would convince people to put a kitchen in their house. Hard to pick just one, so I'm gonna cheat. As already mentioned, it's hard to argue with Titanium Backup or any of the root-level file explorers (like ES File Explorer, Root Brower, et al). Those came to the top of my mind too. But here's a different angle.

Since I have an older phone (600MHz LG Optimus S with 512MB of memory) the top reason to root were:
1) To remove bloatware, free up memory, and gain EXT4 file system support so that I could effectively gain even more memory through "X"-2SD utilities. (I use the app Link2SD.)
2) To enable overclocking and boost my performance by 34%! (I use the app No Frills CPU.)

Also, since Sprint has unlimited data, I love the free hotspot apps that let me do free WiFi tethering (without paying Sprint any monthly Hotspot premium). I use WiFi Tether (by Muller, Lemons, Buxton, et al).

I would have to say Cerberus because without root you would not be able to give it administrative access. Which gives it the ability to use the various hardware on the phone, such as the camera to take a snapshot of its environment.
I also love GMD SPen control because it allows you to create custom spen gestures on the Galaxy Note, Note 2, Note 10.1, etc.

another shout for ti backup. Tasker aswell, although not strictly a root app, it can do so much more rooted with the secure settings plugin.

AdAway definitely. FX is a great file explorer in itself, but has an addon root option as well. And I think ROMToolbox is better than TiBU. It does the same job but has a LOT more features (it doesn't do update.zips yet, but I've stopped using TiBU's anyway, since they are not all that reliable).

But I think one of the best benefits to rooting is the ability to make Nandroid backups.

Yeah id have said Clockwork Mod or similar custom recoverys too if they were an actual app. Nandroid backup is such a cool thing that should really be stock :)
And i forgot about No Frills. I use it daily. Great fast simple app to change clock speeds on the fly :)
