Your dream tablet specs?

Snake X

Android Expert
This is a thread I created for users to fantasize about what they would like to see for specs if they could design their own tablet! Here's my take:

manufacturer: Asus
OS: Android 5.0
CPU: Nvidida Tegra 4 (LTE optional for 4g if its not a wifi only tablet)
RAM: 1.5 GB
Resolution: 1280 x 800 (I don't think I can get too unrealistic with this :p)
Bluetooth: 4.0
battery: 2800 mha
screen size: 10.1"
price point: More than you would ever want to pay for :p
Display type: Super AMOLED HD +
Glass type: Cornering Gorilla glass 2
ports:
- mini USB *3.0*
- mini HDMI rev 1.4a
- micro SD card
Speaker location: front (on bevel)
camera: 8 MP on back capable of 1080p @ 30 fps (3 MP front camera)
color: meh.. just not ugly :p
thinness: 7.3 mm (idk)
Includes exchangeable battery compartment!

If they ever made a tablet like that, I'd die lol.. I wonder how much something like that would cost

So what would your dream tablet be like?

Seems pretty close to dream tablet, hardware spec wise. But I see couple of issues, inconsistency.

First, Asus won't get Super AMOLED+ screen. That's almost exclusive to Samsung. So that should be IPS/LCD like transformer prime. And your screen resolution is too conservative I guess. Asus is already reading 1200p vertical resolution.

Second, what's with 2800mAh battery? That's more like phone battery, not for tablet. it should be 6000mAh at least.

Or if you switch manufacturer from asus to samsung, you just need to switch Tegra4 to Exynos 5 series in your spec sheet. Actually Samsung is gearing up for Galaxy tab 11.6" with spec like this plus 1600p screen that will outdo new iPad screen resolution. So we will see. It seems Asus and Samsung are two main players in android tablet.

Yeah I knew there were getting to be really HD but I want quite sure. And yeah I guess I did mean super ips panel display. Or whichever is best :p. Also idk what I was thinking about that battery life lol.. That would be really bad. how about 7000 mha then. I wonder tho when we'll see gorilla glass 2 actually be used on phones and tablets

I'd like a 7 day battery life with heavy use and 1 month standby on mine please. Oh, and solar charging. :)

Don't think a 7,000 mAh battery will do, though (unless you can significantly cut down power consumption). The new iPad 2012 already has 11,666 mAh and the estimated 10 hours with medium-heavy usage is just about right.

All that and it has to weigh less than 500g.

The Dragontrail glass used on the Xperia Active looks pretty good, too.

Maybe Transformer Prime. I like the idea of the integrated keyboard, so one can use it as a sort of laptop if needed. My ideal tablet would need to have a way of getting content, documents, photos, music, videos, etc, on or off of it to internet, USB sticks and HDDs without requiring another computer. Support of China Telecom EVDO USB modems would be useful as well. Also a way of doing VGA video output could be useful, for presentations.

The new iPad is certainly a nice tablet, however the iTunes requirements makes it a non-starter for me.

Although thinking about these requirements, I'm probably better off with a regular laptop. I've thought about getting a tablet for when I travel, but still decided that a lightweight laptop is better for my needs.
