Help "Your phone has been infected" page

Ed_neo

Lurker
  • Out of nowhere, my phone simply opens a Google Chrome page saying my phone has been infected. Even when I'm using other apps, like Facebook, Twitter, etc, it opens the Chrome App and this page. Some people told me to disable javascript on Chrome, but only made things worse.
I really don't know what to do, and I'm open to suggestions on how to solve this.

Asking an iCrap forum would be a better idea, but I downgraded my ANDROID Chrome browser to like a pre v38, then cleared my caches.. That cleared it up for me, Plus I installed a Fly-On Mod adblocker as a "just in case" for other adware. Doesn't do this anymore..
Asking for iPhone help in an Android forum is like bringing a pretty lawnmower to a Ford/Chevy dealership and asking for help.. Lmfao

Bahahahah!! [emoji23] Touchè and I apologize, Lmfao. Props. Yeah, try downgrading Chrome browser version. If you go into system/apps/Chrome - uninstall updates. Then clear caches (recovery style or cache cleaner app) and reboot. If it doesn't downgrade low enough to help, lemme know and I'll link ya to a different one I'm certain will do better for ya. Edit: Oh! Fbook & Twitter are horrendous about ads and app sizes, so I'd just use the Chrome browser instead and save your RAM space for other stuff cuz those apps are like a 30Mb DL but open up to like a 200Mb. Messenger (Fbook) sidesteps the ridiculousness of ads too. Worth a try! [emoji41]

Ty- Sir @KOLIO, and apologies to OP for any offense taken from my post. I DID try to help with a link to the Chrome browser I myself use as I had similar issues myself a few months ago. There's no risk in trying it out as I have only pulled it from my stock ROM that came with my phone. [emoji41]

Just tried the downgrade, but the problem happens in random moments, so probably it will take a while to be sure if it was fixed or not, but when I'm 100% sure about it, I will come back here and answer!
Thank you very much for the help with the problem and the tips! Just joined this community and hopefully I'll be able to help others the same way you just did :D

Did'ja also clear the caches?

So, even though the number of occurrences of this event has gotten smaller, it's still happening. I'm considering resetting the device to factory settings (don't know how to say that in English, that's just translating directly from Portuguese ) to see if that works. Anyone has a better idea? @bcrichster

Sounds like a good idea, just be careful what APK's you update and reinstall cuz some external apps will still cause your browser to open and hit you with ads. I've also heard that a lot of forum apps do that to you as well, but I've been using Tapatalk (VIP) for a while now and rarely run into those issues anymore since I also busted both my browsers (stock & Chrome) back to factory settings. It could even be a game causing issues as well. So a factory reset is a darn good start for troubleshooting
