Help YouTube lags, help!

dnyeah

Newbie
Hi guys,

After updating from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5, Youtube lags when I'm watching a video. After every 3 seconds it freeze for about 1 sec. It's SUPER annoying. Can someone please help me? Sorry for my bad english.

PDA: I9100BOKJ2
PHONE: I9100BOKJ1
CSC: I9100TNLKJ2

Both, I have reseted my phone twice but still got the same problem.

Do videos from other sources lag?
does YouTube lag on other devices using the same wifi connection? (Assuming you're on wifi?)

Try going to settings, applications, YouTube, clear cache, and do the same for the browser.

I tried Dailymotion and I haven't got any lag on that :S. My wifi connection is ok. I cleared the cache but it didn't help :(

Edit: I tried another video on dailymotion and it lags too :(

dnyeah,
I'm not sure which version of the YouTube app you have, but if you look at the market there are a lot people who posted reviews with similar problems (2.2.16 and even prior to this one). This is why I have not updated my version through the market and I have uninstalled updates back to the stock ROM version 2.1.6.

If you have a newer version since you updated the firmware (mine is still 2.3.3) then it's possible you picked up these newer versions that have some kind of issues? I don't know what the issues are - it's just enough for me to not update based on experience others are having?!

I tried version 2.1.6 too but it is still lagging. Btw I rooted my phone yesterday and installed a custom rom. Miui rom. I haven't got any lag on this rom :S. But I want to go back to the stock rom. What should I do now? Maybe the stock kernel is the problem.

How do I install a different kernel without rooting? I want it to be stock please help me.

If you've already rooted, why do you want it to be stock? Your warranty is void now that you've flashed custom software.. you can't undo that without buying a "USB Jig" (and even that doesn't work sometimes).

But yeah, you can't install a different kernel without root access so it's not possible.

I'm not sure what else to suggest, I would have suggested that you have your device swapped but you probably won't be able to now that you've flashed a ROM :(

I have the stock rom now. I'm going to flash the old bootloader so that the jig will work.

I installed a custom kernel but it is still lagging, just put (2.3.3) I9100XWKE2_XENKE1_XXKDJ back on and on this one it doesnt la, huh???

Im running cyanogenmod now and I haven't got any lag. But I want to go back to stock rom but then the problem will come back :(
