I made a thread about this a while ago when I first got my phone but I didn't really get any answers. Why do youtube videos (over wi-fi and on the network) look bad? There is a 'HQ' option but that just changes the video from looking terrible to slightly better. When the screen is all black on a video or in a dark scene it looks blotchy and the quality just isn't good. I don't know how to explain it well but on my sister's iPhone 4S youtube videos look great. I know the Skyrocket's screen is only 480x800 but I don't think that has anything to do with it.
This has bugged me ever since I got the phone. The screen is fantastic and the black level is great. I just put an episode of Family Guy and Person of Interest on it to see if the same problem occurred and it hasn't. Both episodes are 720p encodes and look superb on the screen!
