youtube workaround/fix

I've noticed alot a people having youtube issues. My youtube app doesnt work very well at all. But i found a workaround until the issues is fixed. Type in m.youtube.com into your browser and create a shortcut. I can view videos 100% of the time without any problems now. I tried to use the full youtube site but the videos won't play for me. I also tried youtube.com/mobile but i get an error message when i try to load it up. Also any video that u play in m.youtube.com will magically play in your default youtube app. Plus having the shortcut on my home screen makes it seem like its a native app even though it's not. I hopes this helps until their is a real fix to the problem.

Create a bookmark in the browser. On the homescreen, longpress > add > shortcut > bookmark > choose your bookmark.

Voila!

Thanks :)

It seems to be working great over the wifi so far. Now Im gonna test it on the mobile broadband. Thanks for the tip though.

well the full youtube site always worked fine for me, I just have it bookmarked and have the book mark widget so it seems to work for me, thx for the info tho.

I had the same YouTube problem. Consistently not loading, and if it finally does, I try to switch over to High Quality mode and it won't connect again.

Wifi mode is much better, but I also used Google's namebench to search for the fastest DNS server in my area. I entered the DNS addresses into my wifi settings (longpress on your wifi name) and it has been working much better thus far. Seems like a problem only for YouTube since other video streams like Mother Ted works fine for me.

Here's the address for namebench. I'm not an expert on this stuff so can't provide support. At your own risk :)

false advertisement is the key to still selling this phone and not telling people that the youtube app is not working. Sprint reps act like it's no big deal and tell me that theirs does the same thing. What a shame. This really pisses me off.

m.youtube only plays in the flash player and that is choppy at best. unacceptable in my eyes. I just use wifi when at home and that works 8 out of 10 times.

Seems to work great only over wifi though. The mobile is to sluggish and slow and takes to long to load. Never had the patience to wait for a video to load up over 3g. But thanks anyway.
