Help Yup I screwed up somewhere.

Just added some files to the /system/app/ folder that I had previously erased. Tried to go back into the home screen and was greeted with unending "android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly" error messages. took the battery out. Restarted the phone, got past splash screen but phone is now stuck in a constant loop at the boot animation and will not go to the lock screen. I probably could recover with the updater but it would have to be to 2.2.1. FML!

Screw it. I'm doin' the dirty deed. Got it recovering with the new firmware. I need this phone to work now. Eventually someone will figure out how to root this version too. It happens anytime stuff gets broke by an update.

Dont feel sad, I'm in the same boat. We'll figure out a solution. This wont be the first time nor the last.

so if you've deleted files then the factory recovery mode is useless?

Once you delete files from the /system/app/ folder they will not be restored during the factory reset. Neither does it appear to restore them even if you've backed them up and placed them back into the folder before resetting.

what happens if you copy and paste a complete system folder taken from another phone?

Nevermind a different phone. I did a copy and paste of the complete system folder from my own phone and ended up bricking the thing. Had to use LG Updater to recover the phone which updated it to the new 2.2.1 version.

Its possible. But you need a lot of work. One, the drivers aren't the same. So the speaker mic, wifi or screen won't work...

When you backed everything up something must of not copied completely or got corupted... I could have had you flash the system.img and you would of been 2.2 still, but I seen this post after you updated.

I meant another Optimus M phone -- not a different Android model. ;) Sorry, I wasn't clear. Like, I have two -- one for me, one for my wife. I've not removed anything from hers yet (except rooting it and re-naming the PowerOn.mp3 file -- which is easily fixed back).

Also, I uploaded to you last night the complete 2.2 system file from her phone (with the PowerOn.mp3 file restpred back to original naming). If he had that, would it restore? Or since he's upgraded to 2.2.1 he's out of luck, since other things have changed?
