Z1 Freezing

My Z1 freezes, touch screen becomes unresponsive and I have to restart it.

Thinking to factory reset and reinstall 4.4.4

Has anyone done this before?

Any guidance would be great?

Are you doing anything in particular when it freezes or is it just random?

A factory reset is never a bad idea, but it might be worth seeing if it's a random app or update that's been causing the problem.

Have you installed/updated anything recently?

Fairly clean Z1, have not installed any random app just the a few games and the updates pushed out by Sony.

Going on holiday soon so need to resolve as want to take the Z1 plus the Sony lens attachment and do not want to have to keep restarting it.

Hopefully a factory reset will remove all the updates and install clean programs, this I hope will stop the freezing.
What do you think?

What is the best way to do it? How do I reinstall Kitkat and restore my phone data?

Fair enough.

Just reset via the Settings -> Backup & Reset. Whilst it's called a Factory Reset, it doesn't actually reset your phone back to factory status, it just wipes the data & cache partitions, meaning the KitKat OS will remain, just any changes you've made/apps you've installed will be deleted.

Does that make sense?
