Root Z4root problem

UserD

Lurker
Well, I have no more necessity to be rooted on my Droid 2 phone. I'm tired of seeing superuser and I don't want it there on my phone anymore. So, I try to unroot the phone (rooted with z4root) but there is no unroot option... can anyone tell me why this happens? I know the phone must be rooted because of superuser...

also, sbf will reset everything to factory without a trace of root.

As I am still new to the Droid 2, I'm not entirely familiar with SBF. I assume it is some sort of Stock ROM full factory reset.

Would you mind shooting a link my way so I can hone my skills?

Thanks.

Wow, thanks a bunch guys! I will update soon.

Considering wiping for good measure. Will backup assistant just ask me to pop in my pin after it restores to factory settings? Or will it instead require me to transfer contacts online? I never had to do a wipe before.

It'll ask for a pin, but also give you a SKIP option. I ended up deleting all my VZW contacts and opting to skip BackupAssistant and instead I back up my contacts by allowing Google to back up my data.

When you do the wipe does Google give you a prompt to back up, or is backing up with Google done manually before hand?

Settings -> Privacy : Make sure you've selected the allow backups to be done by Google.

If you had those settings up and running prior to the wipe as soon as you log in to the wiped phone and it establishes a data connection it'll start restoring settings and apps.
