ZenEXP 0.9.7

I got 1 question though. When you go to Zenconfig>Banned apps. How does that work?

Do you check the apps you want and then they get added to your phone after you restart? Or does it remove the checked apps? Please help.

Check the ones u want banned, love this rom, only problem is it wont let me txt more than 4 senteces, but dont mind, big plus is flash 10.1

This fourm has been very helpful. Thank you all.
Until yesterday I'd been running stock 1.5 since I purchased the Hero in November. I finally got fed up with the "laggy" response times, so I rooted and flashed this ROM. So far so good. I did have to flash 3 times though, as I wasn't properly installing all the updates. Totally my fault for being in too big of a hurry.

I do have a couple of questions though.

In ZenConfig, what are the optimal settings under Basic Tweaks, and Advanced Tweeks? (I know nothing about Heap Sizes, Up Threshold, Sampling Rates or Dirty Xxxx)

Or... Should I select one of the options under Auto Tuning Profiles, and if so, which one? (one of the JIT's possibly?)

Again, thank you.

is updating going to wipe out all my apps and settings?

(i'm currently using ZenExp - 0.9.6.3 and will update to 0.9.7 using the zen updater.)

So...any zip to remove the "Iphone" type icons? I know in the most previous version, there was a quick flash to get rid of the "silver boxes" around icons in the app drawer. Is there one for the new one, or will the old zip work?

The answer is yes.

However, updating from the Zen Updater for this version didn't work for me. Boot loop. Downloaded, added to zip (then realized via Astro the zip was already on the phone, but had to be moved to root folder) then booted to recovery, wiped everything, and now I'm posting on my laptop via wifi tether.

So far, so good. No FC's.

does this rom work with sprint voicemail? whenever anyone calls me, they get an error message. i already updated the sprint visual voicemail

---edit

never mind. sprint advanced tech support reset my voicemail and a few other things. back live again.

Ok, having MMS issues. No errors to report in Handcent, but in default app says Generic Network error.

Tried with Handcent and default app.

Can anyone replicate?

Also, tried to find the fix from the previous version... the link to download is no longer available. Seems the file name is MMS_fix-signed.zip. Anyone still have it?

So I just installed Zen today, however not this latest version. But I'm having this weird voice mail problem. I have a vm notification and it's telling me to dial #86, I think. Anyway when I call I get this message taking about virgin mobile and sprint merging and how I need to call sprint or something. The thing is, I've never had virgin mobile and I can't get rid of this
notification. Anyone know what the deal is?

Did you go into "settings-call-voicemail setting" and change the #86 to your phone number?

I've been running this since within 15 minutes of it's release and it is by far my favorite rom to date. No issues, battery life is as good as ever, this is one of the very few roms i've been able to run for longer than like two days.

I agree. I've used a helluva lot of roms since I learned to root a few months ago and this is the only one that i've really really liked. My phone would be pretty much perfect if web pages wouldn't lose their previous location on the page when you hit the back button. Never had that problem with 1.5

I have these 2 questions as well..... I updated from the older Zen lastnight

under the extras what are these and what ones should i use?

I did not, but now I have. However, this problem is still cropping-up. I keep getting a voicemail notification when I have absolutely no voicemail; I need to keep going into Call > Voicemail to clear the notification. It's not too much of a hassle, but it would be nice if it worked properly.

OK, so I flashed this rom and everything is pretty much perfect, except the phone functions.
The dialer lag is almost incomprehensible. About a minute to dial a 7 digit number. I have no idea when a call has begun, or if it has ended.
I have wiped all the files: Dalvik, data, etc... and have installed this rom 5 different times. The last couple of times I have left the rom completely untouched (stock) and I still have the same issues.

Any suggestions?

I would really love to get this running smooth.

Thank you

Are you sure you wiped everything? Ever had A2SD running? If so, have you tried another SD card?

If all else fails, do like I did and RUU and re-root, then flash this again.

I went back to Darchdroid 2.8 because this ROM was getting laggy and no matter what I did, it ate the batter pretty quickly compared to other ROM's I've used.

I think I did have it checked on one of the installs. I have a class 6 card on the way, but won't be here until next week.
I just rooted for the first time last week (from 1.5). I've restored my Nandroid and I'm in running my original 1.5 now. (just a note, Zen is the only rom I've tried)

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean by ruu. Are you stating flashing an original stock rom (sprint) and then rooting again ?

Thank you for your help.

Yes, RUU would be to restore back to factory Spint ROM with no root access.

Do you have the phone lag with the stock 1.5 as well?

I would also try another ROM and see if the problem exists there as well.

Just the general type lag with the stock rom. No phone issues at all.

Should I try and flash 2.1.5 ?

What would be another rom you would suggest (that's easy to flash and update)? I really would like to flash a rom and keep it, and not reflash all the time.

Thanks again.
