Zenithink ZT-180 1GHz 10" tablet

I finally got my WiiPad NeNo (ZT-180) From U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP). I had to provide documents concerning the wireless, and pay a $100 fee (ransom!).

When I checked the box, there was no power supply. It looks like customs lost it, though they refuse to even consider that possibility.

What type of power supply did you guys get with yours? I checked the specs from several sellers, and get differing specs:

220V Input, 9V DC Output, 2A
220V Input, 8V DC Output, 2A

More places say 9V, so I guess that is the correct voltage. I am in the USA, so I would need a 110V power supply.

Hi, I read that you had the FCC code for the Zenithink ZT-180. I'm not sure but I may have the same problem. Is there anyway you could give me the code? Thanks!

Ok, this is good, but....where are these settings located? Do I just go in and change them to what the directions state? Thanks!

Mostly... you need to edit the 2 files as specified.... ;

- Edit the /etc/Wireless/RT2870STA/RT2870STA.dat file to
make Change to lower TxPower to 20% + Change NetworkType to Adhoc by
setting Adhoc SSID and NetworkType...

- Edit /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf to to contain ONLY
the network relevant data you need such as;
# ap_scan gets cleared every time you switch to Infrastructure Connection
# Adhoc Priority Must be highest number of all networks to get picked up in scan...

The variable is the ssid/SSID that is used by your adhoc connection/mifi router or cell tether... the rest of the settings should be as in my examples...

when im looking at the screen in landscape it looks like part of the it is cut off ( cant see the words for the menu icons ).

if i flip it the other way you can see that it cuts off part of the status bar but now you can see all of the menu icons.

I was wondering if any one else has had this problem and if theres a fix for it.

Thanks in advance,
Ryan

P.S. Can someone plz tell me how to put pics on here from my computer so i can show you exactly what im talking about.

We can't see your images... but a SWAG... any chance you flashed a 1024x600(recent) firmware on a 1024x576 (original) version of these tablets? That would chop a small bar off...

Is there any way i can tell if its been flashed? i got it from a friend to sell and im just trying to get it into ship-shape before trying to sell it.

EDIT: I just talked to the friend im selling it for and he said he did flash it. could you point me in the direction of the original OS and how to flash it. if not tell me what to search around for.

I'd suggest you check over on Slatedroid where there's an extensive ZT-180 section... i.e.;

New Android Firmware 0926/0929 released

Ricky using the info I provided above, you can flash it with the currect firmware and newest one. you can flash it with out loosing your data by not picking user data, or you can start from scratch, sincethe new 929 has android market in it, no need to script it.

either it would of came with windows CE or Android 2.1 . the firm ware really onlu updates the board drivers and some miner software. if your using android 2.1 now, just flash it using the 929_1024x576 also on my link above is the default software for the zenithink

Hi.. OK I have read most of this forum thread.. Wow what a lot of experience and issues etc.

Can anyone answer the following questions?
1/ How does one upgrade the 2Gb Nand memory to the 32Gb potentially available?
2/ Is there a PDF Manual for these devices that one can download and read?
One that shows how to do updates etc.?
3/ I see everyone that does firmware updates seems to do so from a Windows based PC.. I am a Mac person and only have a Mac so that makes it a little more difficult.. Anyone e else out there doing firmware etc updates via a MAC?

Just wondering about the above as I am about to purchase a device (have an offer in for an almost new one and am waiting on acceptance) and wanna read up in advance?

ps.. Just in case you are wondering - I don't want to buy an apple iPad until at least version 2 so wanna play with the Android hardware for fun and to experience it.

kiwisteve: I would save my money on this, unless you really like to tinker with things. Even with the mods that users have been able to do with this tablet, it still is only "so-so". The manufacturer has not released the source code for the kernel patch, or the video driver. There is little that can be done until development is allowed to proceed outside of the manufacturer, or until the manufacture "gets it's sh*t together". :D

This device also isn't as powerful as originally reported. It was suppose to have a ARM Cortex-8 CPU, but actually has an ARM11 CPU.

You may want to consider more recent tablets:
Flat Computing FlatPad A10T
Archos 101 (not yet available) more info HERE

Hi guys,

I've already bought a ZT-180 pad, the firmware says 0830, and i`ve upgrading to 0926, and the results is:

- Wifi connection working! (on 0830 isn`t)
- Lan connection working
- 3G EVDO not working with my ZTE AC2726 USB stick
- Market working but when i downloaded it, the results is "downloading is unsuccesfull" , anyone can help me?

and i want to ask you about this:
- where is the safely remove hardware menu on USB disk? in the setting area there is only able for SDcard but not with Udisk...

thank you guys!

Hi, can someone give me a quick answer as to which micro sd card this tablet takes - is it only a micro sd card or will micro sdhc cards work

thanks :)

Hello All,

Its been a while since I posted here. I just wanted to let you know that since I first posted in this forum over a month ago we have successfully sold over 150 Zenithink tablets all shipped from within the USA.

We would like to thank all of you who have purchased from us for supporting our Houston, Texas, based company and hope that you will continue to refer your friends and family to us.

I post here for 2 reasons.

1) We would like to offer a free Zenithink case and 8gb micro Sdhc memory card to anyone who has purchases a ZT-180 from us. In order to claim this just drop us an email or use the "Contact Us" page on our website and state "I would like to exercise my free case and memory card option" (please include a copy of your order invoice).

2) We are starting an affiliate program for Zenithink ZT-180 tablets in which we will give 15-20% commission to anyone who refers a customer to us. Each affiliate will be given a unique URL where they can send customers. Affiliates can use this to make money or to just get a 15-20% discount on their tablets.

Oh yea, we get a lot of questions on our return policy. Our return policy is as follows:

If your Zenithink ZT-180 is not functioning as it is intended to we will issue you with an immediate replacement. You ship the tablet back to our Houston, Texas, offices and we ship a replacement back to you from our Houston, Texas, office. This replacement warranty is valid for 3 months from the date of your purchase.

If you are not completely satisfied with your Zenithink tablet you will be able to return it for a refund within 7 days. Refunds are subject to a 15% restocking fee and buyer pays return shipping to our Houston, Texas, warehouse.

We believe that our policy is fair and is much safer than purchasing tablets from Chinese distributors (especially in light of the high cost of shipping).

If you have any question please contact us through the "Contact Us" form on our website.

Thank you and I hope to hear from all of you soon. Best Regards!

The Team at www.Zenithink.us

Another newbie question -I had a go at flashing the tablet today and loaded the win ce option. Apart from the icons in the taskbar not being very responsive it seemed to work ok. The only thing that will stop me using win ce on this is that it does not seem to save any data when you shut down e.g. any settings you change or passwords etc. Each time you start it is like a fresh install.
I have sent myself google eyed looking for an answer/fix on various forums and although a few people have asked the same question none have had a reply

Any guidance would be appreciated- thanks:):)
