Root (ZTE Avid 4G) - Kernel Source

Setting up and testing whether my pc can do a test run

Yes. I have 32bit
& I wanna make sure it will build

Getting all the dependencies installed now

Ah, best of luck! Are you going to continue to try and port CM10 or possibly CM9 for now?

Yes. I am still working on it. I have been going over the init.rc fles in the boot.img line by line. It's just tedious is all. I take breaks from it every now and again and mess with something else (i.e. statusbar icons, testing various modifications, help someone on here..etc)

As far as what can be done with the kernel source: I'm sure I don't know 1% of the things that can be done, but I soon will. Right now it will give me a good reference.

wish I coulda gave you a mor defined answer, but I'm still learning too.

BTW, haven't even tried cm9, but that's not a bad fallback idea

stay groovy

CM9 for GalaxyS2 is Armv7 and ICS 4.0.4 I beleive.

Also, if you get stuck on kernel stuff maybe you could ask requisite0 for some help he's pretty bomb with kernel level crap.
