ZTE Racer cult thread ;)

Man I never knew about that Argos deal! I fell into the same trap.. But yeah I never would've been this into Android if it weren't for this little beast :P I love it to pieces!

It seem to be picking up for the Racer we can now root and run 'a' rom so it has got better. [although I haven't tried] My wife has the wildfire its nicely built twice the price but only runs the same apps you get on the Racer due to low rez. apart from price the Racers main point for me is size

there are a few app that the racer cant even download like the wildfire such as
Angry Bird which i just completed :-)
and Rom Manager which is pointless really because most poeple just download ROMS for free off here or XDA why rom manger has a premium version is beyond me lol

i love this phone even though i just got it today, but i have one slight problem, i cant connect to my router via wifi, i havnt tried anywhere else yet but i requier some help?

I think it just like any other Android phone (I don't have my Racer at hand so)

Settings> wireless controls> wifi settings> [find your wifi router] press your finger on it and put in your password.

I am in total agreement with Baggy my wife has the wildfire and i the racer.
I have the same points small easy to use and cheap. :D

for the same price you can but the Orange San Francisco and unlock it for free.
you can also unlock the Racer for fre :-)

The Racer is my first apps phone and I am really surprised at the depth of the apps that are already installed on it, I keep finding menu's inside menu's and the amount of configurations are mind boggling, for a quarter of the price of an iphone I am very happy with the Racer :D

As much as I love the ZTE Racer, I do wish I had shelled out a bit more for the San Francisco instead. Too many apps are becoming 2.2 exclusive now and there doesn't look like 2.2 will ever come to the Racer :( boohoo

Yes, these are amazing little phones.
The only problem is that my son also loves it, so to avoid arguments I got him one as well .

I recently change my tariff with 3 so I now enjoy the 'all-you-can-eat' top-up (call center staff tell me it is capped at 80Gb), so all-day steaming of Planet Rock and the various Ustream channels is a joy.

Oh, and there is the small issue of the time not synchronising with the network when you switch your Racer on - this is a bug, it will sync once with a new sim card, but after that you have to set the time manually if needed.

There is the issue of the security of the 'phone also. It has to be said I think that at least this version of Android combined with '3' is bordering on hopeless. My Racer seems to be hacked the moment I connect to the network (typically the browser refuses to load certain pages). When I first bought it a couple of incidents and

Another possible hack. I noticed a while ago after a reset the 'phone failed while attempting to download an update for the android marketplace app. To cut a longer story short I think a computer criminal possibly has been attempting to download malware with this update - i.e., including some rogue code in with the download.
