Root ZTE U960 ROM Discussion

[...] Can anybody advise me on how to get the APN page back as I think this could solve the issue?

Thanks.

You can set the APN for a SIM only when the mobile network on that SIM is activated.
Because you can turn on the mobile network only on a SIM at a time (not simultaneously), the easiest way is to put on the desktop the widget "Power Control" by which you can easily - just a single tap - activate the mobile network and just as easily switch between a SIM and the other.

Thank you for the suggestion. I always have the Power Control widget activated and this is the way I normally switch between sim cards, turn on GPRS and activate wifi. Unfortunately this does nothing to help me now and the APN screen remains blank.

I suggest widgetsoid, it can do whatever power control does with an huge amount of additions settings and customizations

Not sure if this is a rom issue:

The indicator of battery % seems to be very optimistic. Around 45% (twice 44%, once 49%) the phone first stops to make contact with the mobile date network. Then shortly afterwards the phone just dies down.

Any ideas on this?

It's not optimistic it's just non linear, practically most of the battery juice is comprised between 45% - 100%. Just look at the battery monitor widget graphs to understand how the things are working on the u960.

The same will apply obviously during the charging time as you can see 15/20 mins of charge are enough to reach 50%, then you have to wait a couple of hrs to reach 100%

Will take an extra look at the graphs, thanks for the answer!

Unfortunately with B08 there is exactly the same problem as with latest Catty's ROM. When I type my IMEI in "IMEI SET" option of Catty's ROM or over *983*4634# in B08 ROM there is always "set IMEI failed" !

I wouldn't have to try the B08 at all. :(
Is this the last way to keep my IMEI in my phone? I've no experience in QPST at all so I hope I won't brick my new phone.
I'm sure too, it will be an hard match.

BTW we are here just because Spain was fair in the first round, so whatever team will be champion, will have kudos from my side.

I just hope in a great show, as the last match was.;)
It's too bad that Italy lost in the last thirty minutes the important defense man Motta so Italy had to play with ten man and Spain could continue the offense game play (at the end 4:0). But I congratulate both teams, Spain and Italy for their great and especially fair match.

Thanks. I had already tried that. My understanding is that both "Power Control" and 'widgetsoid" are programs to facilitate switching of various functions. My problem is that the APN programming function is no longer available.

Ok, found the following interesting things..

I made the following steps: installed QPST and made a backup.qcn file via Software Download program.

I found my IMEI in this backup under NV item 550 (NV_UE_IMEI_I).

My IMEI is 565645000328980 (not my real IMEI)

In the qcn file i found:
Code:
NV_UE_IMEI_I 0: 08 5a 56 46 05 00 23 98 08
If I'm reversing the numers its:
Code:
80a565645000328980
Witch is actually the IMEI wit a leading 80a

Can I input a other imei and restore this file??? The application Service Programming does not work (no connection).

Is it possible to write an other IMEI under NV_UE_IMEI_I 1 for the second sim module? Does it also need a leading 80a?

[EDIT: ON]
Maybe anybody has the U960 from etotalk with the two IMEI option and can make a backup file like i did???
I got my mobile from eto, but in that time they haven't the two IMEI thing available and they (until now) do not want to give me the needed informations...
[EDIT: OFF]

Hope for help 'cause I do not want to brick it yet ;)

regards

June 4, 2012 Change IMEI (from: ?)
Hi,

What does mean change IMEI ?
Is it possible to have the phone with 2B06 without CPU Overclocked at 1.4ghz ? Because the 2B06 solve the problem with USDD on SIM 1 et SIM 2.

Thanks for all
Reply:
Change IMEI means we can change any IMEI of U960 for you.
Yes, we will develop a common version firmware of 2B06.
Thanks

I think that picture is a colossal fraud.
Go to this link and enter the TAC ("Type Approval Code", initial eight-digit portion of the 15-digit IMEI code used to uniquely identify wireless devices) that you see on the screen: you'll be quite surprised.
The IMEI of the ZTE start with 86...

Hi from Italy

I think eto is using older IMEIs for there "test"... 'cause 'our' 86 IMEIs are not official.. found an image from an U960 in the internet with the same IMEI than mine... strange isn't it?!

Never sad that ... but to be honest: I do not trust any sticker witch are on chinese products when these products are not officially availabel in "my" country ;-)
But never mind ... its just my point of view ;-)

I believe, that your remaining options are all QPST based.

First of all you must do a backup of your actual NVram, likely is damaged but better than nothing, and is a good way to check the QPST functionality, if you have the needed drivers nad so on.

So the first option is to check if oneclick updater did the nvram update you should have a Save0.nvm file on the main one click updater directory, if you have it you can just try to restore it with QPST.

Then you can follow the instructions posted earlier to set the imei directly in the phone

Another option is to look at your nvram backup, and hex edit it to restore the IMEI

As last resort you can use the NVram from fully a working phone editing the imei and the mac adresses to match your ones.

As usual the bigger is the problem, the longer/harder is the way to fix it.

But hardly you will get a bricked phone. QPST is used mainly to resurrect already dead phones, so...

We already did it in 1970: great semifinal with Germany, poor final with Brazil.

This time we were unlucky too, but Spain deserved the victory anyway, we were to tired.

Something very strange happened to me now in latest Catty ROM although I got "set IMEI failed" in B08: Without reboot I got my IMEI and IMEI SV suddenly in "settings-about the phone-status" and with *#06# too in latest Catty ROM now, after B08 was installed. The software seems to keep the IMEI also after reboots. But the line as here is missing and the phone crashes a lot by itself (automatically) mostly in relation while phoning with SIM2. SIM1 is still disabled as good as ever and not usable!

Is there a need to use QPST yet?

Can I use One Click Updater now correctly on Windows XP machine because I got my IMEI?

Yeah I think the Italians have to save energy for the final round in future and the Germans have to cover good offense men like Balotelli. ;)

Is this still an issue with the latest custom ROMs?

Can somebody be kind enough to make a list of unsolved bugs and problems that persist even with the latest ROMs and basebands?

This is very important as some people are really trying to determine if the phone is worth buying and carrying around, and if the unresolved problems are negligible or not.

Thank You for keeping us informed on this forum.
