Help zte warp and game pad....PLEASE help a noob...i don't want to root or void my warranty

Newbie
Newbie here...to forums AND to android Os. I'm looking for game pads compatible with zte warp and software needed for use. I bought a cool game pad from gamestop for android tablets and later discover that it's not compatible with zte warp. I'm looking to buy local (Charleston sc) or from a dealer not overseas. All other gamepads I've found so far come from China or the UK...and the people at gamestop don't have any answers...such a shame because i really like this game pad. I don't want to root the phone and void my warranty....please help a newbie

thanks for the help... i have to find the receipt for this iconcepts wiiremote and get a refund. which brings me to my last question.....sorry for my newbie-ism...I've never used a forum...

I've been also reading about using a ''wired ps3 controller''....i bought a cheap ps3 controller that i use a USB wire (standard size end connects to PC and mini to the controller itself) to connect to a computer for gaming (doesn't have Bluetooth either) i tried looking for a mini to micro adapter which doesn't seem to exist (or i'm just looking in the wrong place) ...so my phone needs to be equipped with ''native support''? i can't find much detailed info about the ZTE warp...i desperately want a game controller for my phone...I'm sick of the onscreen controls...do i have ANY options? Now, I'm even considering a root.

I didn't even know there was such a thing as a game controller for an android phone, but after using Google I found out that yes there is.

Have you tried one of the Bluetooth controllers? If so what were the issues?

Also did you ask your question in the android games section as Justtom suggested?

The warp is incredible for what it is with that said if your not gonna root it then u should find a app that allows you to use your screen as a controllor and not waste ur money on something that probably I won't ever work on the warp but like I said they do have apps for what your trying to do you would need to google it and read more into it sorry man and best luck to you

Okay, so I know this has less to do with Bluetooth game controllers and more to do with obscure Bluetooth devices, but it may give you some hope on your search.

I bought a $200 Bluetooth OBD2 scan tool via eBay which I couldn't get to work on the Warp using an older custom kernel (and maybe even the stock one, IIRC) but on the newest Alien kernel, it works flawlessly.

ok guys much thanks! i guess i'll have to root...I'm just your average guy that wishes that he knew something about these computers and phones... I'm a little scared to mess with the root thing....and all the apps i see either require a root or a specific controller...so i guess one day I'm just going to have to do it...and pray i don't botch it.....

thanks again
sincerely

If you decide to root, then this is the best and easiest method avaliable for the warp.:D

I'm thinking ; i should download the original version stock ROM as well??? just in case???

I'm still a little apprehensive about rooting, but the instructions provided in the above link make it seem impossible to screw this up!

I don't know much, but i think Zte warp is still a cool phone considering its age...I'm blown away by the newer devices but somehow the Warp manages to hold a candle to much more advanced products!

i enjoy my playstation emulator with Ridge Racer 4, and Soul Edge/Blade as it runs pretty close to the console, not to forget my love for much older games! This hopefully explains my persistence!

I thank everyone here for sharing their precious time and knowledge! I know a lot of these projects and modifications are done in your spare time. i also like to thank everyone for being patient and understanding that I'm a total newb to android Os, forum rules, and format.

When i finally get over my fear of damaging my phone, I'll return with the results and millions of thanks!

now if Sega would get the bright idea of porting Sega Ages Phantasy Star Generations 1 and or 2 to Android in English...my life would be complete!!

Noob rom which can be flashed from stock recovery will put a custom rom ,recovery, kernel and root ur device all in one simple download write mr.bobo

I'm sorry....i posted this in the wrong place. i just read the rules....I'm such a noob...i would like to move this forum to the zte warp page...

Sorry for my confusing question... I will clarify

I read about using an official wii mote as a game pad. I thought an unofficial controller would work the same...

Turns out it didn't...not right away at least... I ended up accidentally figuring it out.

To keep it short, I downloaded a wii control (and if I remember correctly, an HID for wii products).

I got it to recognize but not fully connect. On many guides I read, it said to leave password blank and hit enter (which obviously didn't work for me as the "okay " button was grey)

I tried all suggested passwords with no luck... and then I read that unofficial wii gear doesn't work the same... different protocols or something... anyway I gave up....but then ...

I left the password field blank, hit cancel and just let it sit for a while as paired but not connected and it fixed itself.

Since then, I bought a Moga Power A and downloaded the universal drivers and have since relived my entire history of video gaming !

The drivers are a bit buggy at times but it has made me truly happy !

It doesn't work with all android specific games ... it does work with a few though... and it comes with Moga pivot which features many games not available on the market.

So in conclusion, I can confirm that Moga Power a works on zte warp without root !

Off brand wii remotes may or may not work... kind of hit or miss ...

I was finally able to find the Bluetooth pairing app i spoke of earlier. This app allowed me to pair the wii remote to my zte warp.

Apparently when i bought my Moga pocket, and retired my wii mote, i forgot that i left this app installed.

I just Re-downloaded it moments ago. I ran the Bluetooth pair app, then ran the Moga universal drivers and was able to activate my Moga Pocket controller!

I've included the links to the app below. Although probably unnecessary, i provided both a direct link to Google market as well as a link to the Google search that produced said result.

Maybe one of you tech Gods can shed some light on to this?

Google search- Bluetooth drivers from Japanese Google play - Google Search

Direct link to android market/Google play- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jpn.frontia.waka.Bluetooth

The app is completely in Japanese but there's only 2 or 3 buttons anyway.

The manufacturer of Moga should have done better. Now I'm off to the Moga forums to help other stranded Moga owners!
