Nova Launcher adding shortcuts to folders

Galaxy s23

Sorry to see Nova Launcher was having these problems Bummer news for Nova Launcher fans

Perhaps that explains some behavioral issues. It's next to impossible adding an item to an existing home page folder. I temporarily disabled the app to see if I could add to the folder, and then re-enable it, but when I did, the Item I added was not there.

I was wondering if there might be an app setting that, if altered, would render the folders more easily accessible, and also make home page buttons less sensitive/jumpy when trying to reposition them.

If not, what launcher would serve as a replacement?

Wifi Issues Again

My wife has a Samsung A53. There were issues with backups and resets that I had mentioned in another thread I think that issue has been fixed. I also made a thread about wifi issues that I though were fixed but turns out weren't. Her phone is baffling to me. The wifi issue is back and I have no idea why this is happening. Here goes.

This is now happening frequently. The wifi can be working normal. Then she can be online doing something and all of a sudden wifi goes out, out of the blue. Then in the wifi setting it shows the wifi still turned on but the network is gone and it shows that it's scanning for wifi connections and the home wifi isn't list as available. Then like the next day it shows back up again. My son is using his computer and tablet and I can be using my phone and him and I have no disruptions. Wifi works fine.

Is this a Samsung issue. Is there a problem with an app that's doing this, maybe a Samsung utility that's installed? Or maybe an Android issue. I tried to reset the wifi settings and that did nothing.

She was paying her phone off through a loan with smartpay offered through total by verizon. She didn't start having this issue until the phone was paid off last week or so.

  • Question Question
Battery life expectancy

Hello, techies. Just over two years ago, I bought a brand-new Motorola Moto g22 smartphone, and it has been (and still is) very satisfactory for my simple needs. (It was not an up-to-date model, but at least, it was new.) Today, however, it did not charge up as I expected. It was necessary for me to push the cable in again and switch the charger on again. This worried me, and I started thinking of how long I might reasonably expect the battery to last. The phone is switched on all day (only daytime) and in the afternoons, I use the phone as a router, tethering my desktop Mac to it. The access to Internet is just about passable, but I don't use the Web much, so I am reasonably satisfied with it.

However, I am given to understand that to use my phone in this way (as a router) is very demanding on the battery, and I fear being caught out, one day, by a failed battery. Can anyone tell me how long a battery can be expected to provide reliable power for internet use?

With thanks in anticipation of an informed reply,
S.

G Mail Log In Problem: Is it OK to ask here?

Hi All!
I have a problem logging into a g-mail account. I can't find an answer how to fix this. Is it OK if I ask here, even though this isn't a Google user group?

The Problem:
The g-mail accounts on my Mac Mail stopped working. When entering the password, the message "Unable to verify" pops up. So, I check e-mail on a browser. When logging into one of my mail addresses, Google used to send a pop-up to my Android phone (Android 11). I'd click "Yes, it's me" and the browser on the computer would log me into the g-mail account.

Now, it won't send the pop-up. At the top of the choices page for verification, the message says "unanble to connect" even before I try to use the verification. The phone is on, with signal and with WiFi internet.
They give me another choice- codes. I can enter either of the codes they send to the phone, but the code is always rejected.

My only option is to have them send a SMS code. It works, but I pay per text so I'd like to avoid that.

Do you all know how to fix this? Preferably the "Yes it's me". Ideally, the "Yes it's me" would work for all g-mail accounts, but I think we are only allowed to link one address per phone.

Thanks For Helping>
Paul

Finding older content

It's weird that I can't locate some of the stuff I posted in maybe the last year or two. Some older things than that are available, thank goodness. I wanted in particular to get to the discussion(s) about that plasma tv. It suddenly stopped working and I don't know why. I have unplugged and replugged, changed the remote's batteries (4 AAA), EVEN PRESSED THE ON/OFF BUTTON ON THE SET. Is there a television expert among us?

Canta can't

I found out about a potentially great app called Canta. It's a little similar to having a rooted device but without all the hassle. It works with something called Shizuku, which I have. Recently I tried to "uninstall" some apps. Everything seemed to be working but when I tapped the trash can icon it said "uninstall canceled". I certainly didn't do that. What went wrong?

  • Suggestion Suggestion
Hello to ALL Members Of This Prestige Club!

I just wanted to give out one of my own strange suggestions/practices..bare with me:

The better our Androids have became the powerful they get that means they've have bigger power/data source..so now we are in the 5G era..whether we want or not that has an impact on us because of the radiations(even seems like noone has the last word)..and this is where I'm aiming with my suggestion/advise to yall..

I've been appling a couple of aluminum foil tape layers in the back of my phone..and that works wonders and it does shield the radiations & waves..I've tested it..then again it's at each one of yall discretion whether yall want to put it in practice or not but it has worked out for me..we all love our Androids but i love my health & sanity first..

For those interested to know how i tested the efficacy of the foil aluminum tape:
I did the same with a pair of Beats headphones i have..then I've noticed right off at first after i cover the areas with the tape and tried to listen to some music & watch a movie they were having a hard time to communicate with my phone and it took about a whole day for that wireless connection to become stable..

So there it is..thats my finding.

No Wifi

I haven't been here in awhile because I haven't run into any problem with my phone since the last I was here which was months ago. My wife however has run into a problem with her Samsung A53 with ANDROID 14.

Up to yesterday everything was fine with it. In fact she was using it for most of the day with the home wifi. She started to play a game at around 5 or 6pm then all of a sudden she noticed that her wifi shut off, the connection disappeared. The wifi was still turned on, on the phone but it was thou the router was turned off but it was turned off because I was using the home wifi on my phone fine.

We decided to turn the router off and then on again. Again I could connect but when we turned the wifi off then on again on her phone the available networks didn't show the router or network name available. She rebooted her phone still nothing. I'm baffled as to why this happened. Any ideas or suggestions.

The mummy rises

Ideally this will happen. It's one of those fabric characters with joints that are brads. The coffin is a tray that had corn ears. I want the mummy to sit up, maybe by having a thread attached and pulled. At least the mummy could look that way without moving. Maybe I can put a picture on here.

Reviews VIVO X Fold3 Pro 3rd party case

The Vivo X Fold3 Pro is not available globally and I thought that 3rd party cases might have been hard to come by.

How wrong I was.

Whilst the phone comes with a case in the box, it is a back cover only and has a camera island cut-out. Not too bad but it offers no front screen protection or has a kick-stand, something I find very useful.

Companies such as Amazon, Temu and AliExpress offer a selection of cases and I eventually settled on a leather covered case that protected both the front and rear as well as the hinge. More importantly, it provides a kickstand built-in to the camera cover. The camera cover has cut-outs for the various cameras and flash which means that the camera can operate normally even with the cover/kickstand closed. The case also has the usual cut-outs for the power and volume buttons as well as the Sound On/Off slider switch. It also has a dip on the righthand side of the front case to enable the back gesture.

Have been using the case for a number of weeks and it is, in my humble opinion, the best fold case that I have used. Even better was the cost... £10.39p, about six to eight times cheaper than other cases I have purchased in the past.

FLOCK cameras

Seems like these are popping up everywhere.
What are y'all's thoughts on these cameras being installed in your areas?

Personally I haven't thought much about these cameras being able to track my movement were I go. Of course my phone dioes enough of tracking on its own.

Android 14: No email notifications during sleep / lockscreen

I have a new Motorola Moto g Play (2024). It upgraded itself to Android 14.

I've been using it for 2 weeks now. One thing I've just recently noticed, when the screen goes dark, the phone will not alert me to emails, at least not in a timely manner. I've got my new phone (Android 14) right next to my old phone (Android 9), and my older phone makes the notification sound almost immediately. New phone maybe several minutes later, or not at all.
It seems to notify me of texts quickly, but it seems to snooze other notifications until I unlock the screen, then I get a flood of email notifications.

I have turned off Adaptive battery (which can cause a delay in notifications), I've turned off Notification Snoozing (under Notifications).

I know Android 14 has a "doze mode", but I don't know how long the phone has to sit idle before that initiates. I seem to be having trouble with timely notifications right after the screen goes dark.

I've read on Reddit that Android 14 seemed to be causing some people to get delayed notifications, so not sure if it's an Android 14 think or not.
