Reviews Vivo X Fold3 Pro Global... WOW!

I waited patiently for the Samsung Fold6 to replace my Fold5 and felt that for the minor changes that it offered I could not justify shelling out £1,800+ for it and decided to wait for the launch of the Google Pixel9 Fold.

After the lacklustre launch of the Pixel9 Fold and its smaller battery and Tensor chip I resigned myself to not upgrading until I came across the Vivo X Fold3 Pro Global with its large, bright screen, huge battery and superfast charging, I decided to take a chance and received it a week ago. Since the lack of eSIM and stylus were not deal breakers to me, it was not a big jump.

All I can say is... WOW!

This is the fold phone that both Samsung and Google need to beat. Whilst I am by no means a professional photographer the Zeiss cameras on this device blows me away.

Luckily, I found a distributor here in the U.K. who also covers the U.S.A. and offers a years warranty.

There does not appear to be a Vivo X Fold3 Pro section so I will leave any further comparisons but if like me, you are underwhelmed at the latest Fold offerings from Samsung and Google I can recommend taking a look at the new Vivo X Fold3 Pro Global.

Help Is it safe to use no reviews app?

Hello,

In google playstore,
1. Is it safe to use apps that has high downloads but 0 reviews?
2. Why these apps below have over 100K downloads but 0 reviews? Are they fake downloads numbers or reviews disabled or other reason?
3. In playstore I see other apps by other developers that are 0 reviews too, are they safe to download to use?
4. Is it safe to use the apps below?

Example:
100K+Downloads Mi Status Bar - Apps on Google Play
100K+Downloads Quick Settings for Android - Apps on Google Play
100K+Downloads Soft Keys - Home Back Button - Apps on Google Play
100K+Downloads Emoji Battery Status Bar - Apps on Google Play
These 4 apps above have over 100K downloads but 0 reviews, from Android Apps by My Lan on Google Play

Thanks

Alarm or reminder app suggestion?

Samsung default clock app has an alarm tab and I use it often but there are flaws, the text is limited and the alarm auto stop after some time even if nobody touches the phone, e.g. I put my phone in my room, I set an alarm at 8pm and if I am not in my room at 8pm the alarm is activated for a few mins then it auto stop, when I enter my room I did not even know the alarm has happened.

Recommend me an app that is similar to the clock app (easy to use for one time alarm) and will repeat alarm every few mins or continuously alarm if I did not touch my phone.

Thanks.

RCS confusion

Google says that RCS is a feature of all Android phones. I have a NokiaCO2 with Android 12, that shows a message 'RCS is not available on this device'. An older Samsung with Android 7 had been giving me RCS, but that stopped on about August 1. I do my texting from a PC, through Google's Messages for Web, in which I had maybe a dozen contacts with whom I could exchange RCS messages - but no longer. In the text bar it used to show 'RCS', but now only 'SMS'. I have one remaining contact which still prompts 'RCS', but I expect that if I actually TRY to send a message, that will change to SMS, just like the other dozen contacts. In a practical sense I know RCS enables 'rich text' to be exchanged - and that requires Data or WiFi. My SIM 'plan' has minimal DATA. I can no longer exchange images or emojs or URLs which is a great loss, yet the phone is still connected to my WiFi. I'm very confused, and annoyed and inconvenienced and am hoping someone can make sense of this mess and tell me how to restore the earlier RCS functionality. Can it be related to the phasing out of 3G ?

Android 13 Security locks workaround

After I ran the latest update on my Android 13. It changed some system settings to the better but it also locked up the system and cannot change basic things.

I am no longer able to allow restricted settings. The three dots that had that option is gone from the app in the phone settings.

The 2nd issue is that I am unable to find a way to stop Mic and Camera 100%.

There are apps that allow to control that from the notification area.

It won't lock up all the way properly. Some apps are still able to access the camera. So that could also mean that all can.

Please give tips on how to solve it short of rooting the device because it is still brand new and under warranty.

Super Grub2 Disk For Linux

Linux use to use a MBR program called LILO for booting into whatever OS you had loaded on your computer. It was real easy to use and write script to.

Then for some unknown reason, Linux distributions started using Grub. I had trouble with it starting on day one. It wrote over LILO and I couldn't get to my other OS to boot. I even talked to a guy who was some how involved in the testing of Grub and he couldn't figure it out.

The other day I loaded Fedora on one of my laptops and sure enough Grub didn't work. I searched the web and it was a common problem on the latest version of Fedora. I had to have the Fedora installation DVD in my laptop for it to boot to Fedora. I didn't even bother to try fixes that were listed.

Now I see Super Grub2 is out to fix Grub problems. I'm going to try on Fedora to see if it works. If Grub worked properly this Grub2 wouldn't be necessary.

Samsung Health

I have the Galaxy Watch Ultra that advertised upgraded sensors for better sleep tracking (I have some very serious sleep issues and want to track my sleep closely). However, I submitted an error report to Samsung Support because, apparently, the Sleep Score is based on how long I have Sleep Mode enabled on the watch... not my actual sleep time. WTH, Samsung??? I put the watch in Sleep Mode so it doesn't light up when I turn my wrist: but I'm not asleep yet. My Sleep Score is low because of "excessive sleep time" - even though my actual sleep time was 7-1/2 hours! This is BS and it needs to be fixed in a hurry.

Data transfer lead Samsung>Laptop

On my laptop I use Linux Mint. I find it easy to backup my Android data weekly to my laptop using the Mint file explorer.
Now the details:

I had a Samsung J7 Pro for six-and-a-half years. Used a data lead micro-USB>type A USB. The phone died a couple of months ago.

Now I have a Samsung A25. Came with a lead, but no charger - grrr!
I also have a data lead USB type C>type A. I can successfully use this to connect laptop and A25 to backup.

I bought a one-piece adapter (not a lead) USB type C>type A. I used it to try and connect my A25 to my laptop, using the A25 supplied type C>type C lead: Charges OK, but no data transfer.

I thought perhaps the Samsung-supplied lead was only charging, not data.
My wife has a Samsung A71. I found can access her phone data using the adapter and A25 lead.

Can someone tell me why it works with an A71, but not with an A25?

Problems with Flashdrive and OTG

I have a Nokia c110 and a OTG cable. I have a 64gb flash drive that I plugged into it. It come up in my file manager ready to us. I put about 56gb of info on it that it displays. That was a out 2 weeks ago. I plugged the drive into the OTG cable again recently and the phone now doesn't recognize it. I put the flash drive in my laptop and it works fine. I also have have a 32gb flash with info on it and it works in the phone and laptop. What gives.

Disable Developer Options on Amazon Fire HD 10 Generation 9

Hello. I have an Amazon Fire HD 10, Generation 9 tablet on which I enabled developer options. I have since toggled it off, but I’d really like to disable it (make it disappear) again, since the tablet is used by a child. Developer Options were enabled by tapping the serial number seven times in “device options” of “settings", so I’m thinking there is a way to reverse that. Does anyone on this forum know how to disable developer options? Thank you

Lenovo Tab M9

Wanted to find out if anyone out here runs a Lenovo Tab M9, as I just picked one up during Amazon Prime Days. I bought it after my 5 year old Amazon Fire HD8 has gotten long in the tooth, with Amazon not doing any OS updates at all in these years. Apps were getting slower as they updated while OS remained static. So I looked a long time for another small format tablet since I prefer a 7 or 8 inch tablet when I travel on airplanes, easier to read books and watch videos without fearing the dread seat recline knocking over an iPad or laptop.

Samsung has effectively ended their 8 inch line and I didn't find the myriad no name Android devices worthwhile, but the M9 seemed reasonable, especially with a competitive sale price during Amazon Prime Days. At any rate, after a few weeks I'm satisfied the apps I transferred from my HD8 are snappier in responsiveness due to a fairly up to date Android 13 version. It's not certainly not a Samsung tablet nor an iPad, but that isn't what I wanted, just a cost effective reader and occasional video player for light usage.

Anyone have experience with this tablet, would you share your perspective.

USB to hdmi

I have a Nokia c110 with Android 12. I purchased a USB C to HDMI adapter to connect my phone to a TV. When connected I received no system notification on my phone that the TV recognized the phone or vice versa.

The ports work because I can connect my laptop via a HDMI to the TV and it works.

I returned the cord because I thought it was defective. What could have been some reasons why it didn't work. Do I have to find a specific type to work with the chips on the phones board?

Help How to connect to Smartphone "hello" in local Wifi (in local LAN) via adb from window?

Assume my Smartphone with the name" hello" is currently connected in local WLAN (wifi).
Same as my Windows desktop computer.

How can I setup a Wifi (=not by USB cable) connection to this smartphone via adb ONLY BY NAME ?

Yes, I know the smartphone has an assigned IP like 192.168.x.y

How can I find out the values for x and y after successful adb connection?

How can I find out via adb connection on which port the adb android part (server) n the smartphone is currently listening for incoming adb connection requests?

Similarly: How can I find out from inside (=no adb connection required) Android (13 or 14) what the current Wifi IP and the listening adb port is?
