Emulator will not load virtual camera on Mac

Hi,

I am getting this error when I try to run the command line emulator with a custom virtual camera (i.e.
./emulator -avd Pixel_2_API_29 -camera-front webcam1):

emulator: ERROR: _camera_client_create: Cannot find camera info for device 'OBS'

The error appears after an application tries to load the camera.

The virtual camera works in other programs, and I have a similar setup working on my Linux machine. Does anyone have any ideas why the camera could be being rejected by the emulator?

Charging: Fast or slow.. which is better?

Well I'm very sorry to say that, in my opinion, taking two differing views, contained in one thread about a subject that dozens of other members have also made contributions to in many similar threads regarding battery life, does not justify the expression 'most contributors here', particularly when you have used one of, if not the, most respected contributors, not to mention Moderator, @EarlyMon.

Oppo F9 Private Safe recovery

I am assuming here that there is no alternative to opening the Private Safe app, unlocking it and copying the files from it, because unless frankly if there is another way then that's a serious design fault (I don't have an Oppo so cannot test). So, assuming that is the case I have two questions:

1) Is it just the display that's gone, or is the touchscreen dead as well?
2) Does this device support any type of screen mirroring, specifically something that doesn't require you to do something in order to enable it?

The reason I ask is that you need to interact with it, and you need to be able to see what you are doing. If the touch layer is still working, even if the display is not, you can use that to interact. If not then you should be able to use a keyboard or mouse via a USB OTG adapter (cheap if you don't already have one), or a bluetooth keyboard or mouse if you already have one paired and it auto connects. Many phones support mirroring via HDMI if you have a suitable connector, but I don't know this model's specs. Wireless mirroring (e.g. via a Chromecast) is also possible, but you need to be able to start it (and set it up if you don't already have it) whereas wired mirroring, where the device supports it, should just start when you plug it in (at any rate it does with the older devices I've used it with).

So if you have a working touch layer and can mirror via a cable to a TV or monitor, you should be able to get into the private safe, remove the documents to somewhere less secure, then email them to yourself or copy via USB (or using the SD card if it has one). If don't have a working touch layer the challenge is to get mirroring and mouse/keyboard input working at the same time (wired screen mirroring plus a bluetooth input device, or wireless mirroring and a USB input device). This works great once you've done it, but getting it set up when you have to swap between interacting (wired keyboard/mouse) and seeing what you are doing (wired mirroring) is "fun". I have actually done this: unlocking a phone, getting to the bluetooth settings and pairing an input device to it by swapping between interacting and seeing (see where you are, plan your next move, swap to input device, attempt move, swap back to mirroring, see what happened, plan next move, repeat ad nauseam and beyond), but it takes patience. The good news is that at least the fingerprint scanner works, so you don't have to enter a PIN blind before you can do anything else!

Force Stop buton and restart app

You mean that you want your app to restart even if the user explicitly stops it and doesn't choose to restart it? Can I ask why?

Obviously the app itself cannot do this - if it is stopped then it isn't running any more and so can't restart itself. What you need is something else to restart it, either the operating system or some other process. I'm not an android developer so can't say whether there is a way of telling the OS that this app is so important it must be restarted if it isn't running. As a user I'd probably uninstall an app that simply respawned if I deliberately stopped it though.

Adding AdBlock Plus to Android Tablet.

Set adguard to block ads in all apps.
Try using the Adguard program. It is very good, I would say the best anti-advertising application. I've been using it for half a year. To be honest, I really like it, I like that the advertisement that appears everywhere every minute does not appear now. I was already very nervous about this. I didn't know how to get rid of it and I had read an article about ad blockers. I remember that Adguard was in the first place or among the first in that ranking. I don't remember exactly, but I know I decided to install it. I don't regret it at all.

Accessing internet through app

Have your tried just restarting your A40? That's always the first thing to try when a quirky problem like this pops up.
If you're having this problem with WiFi connectivity, it's typically a good idea to restart your router too.
If this is happening with mobile data, try re-seating your SIM card.
But it would make things more clear if you could provide more details on just which online connection is the problem. Or is it happening with both WiFi and mobile data?

which app is this

I assume this is not an app on your own phone, because otherwise this would be trivial. But can you tell us where this appeared? I'd guess it's a notification icon, but it's a little unusual for the same app to put up multiple icons.

By the way, there are literally millions of apps out there, so it's a very long shot that anyone will recognise this. Just so you know. Asking the person whose screenshot you saw it on is probably the most reliable way of finding out.

Won't download anything

Thanks for the come backs all. I rather expected that age would be the problem

Hi Robert,

Yes, I've still got my HTC Desire S which was my first Android device bought in 2011, running 2.3.5.

It's still in (almost) full working order and is a great little music player apart from the headphone output which is distorted but bluetooth still works.

I have PAYG SIM in it so it's also useful as a spare/emergency phone.

I managed to get Opera Mini browser downloaded but for the reasons stated by others do not intend using it for accessing the internet. It is far too slow when compared to current devices, as well as the security issues.

:)
