As such, you'll see the structure of categories and forums changing as we test things, most notably to include a wider spectrum of tech beyond Android. We're exploring ways to bring our "Channels" system of 1 forum for each "device" to this new site, but it's not something we want to rush- more forums also means more segmentation. I got the motorola phone case off amazon same as on the website only on amazon it doesnt have the rubber wrap around .2mm i guess for use with a tempered glass screen protector. I had bought two cases one with a plastic screen protector. The flexible rubber backside installed real nice and easily after snapping the front on with screen protector. It fits good feels sturdy the camaro side could have a littlemore screen protector if you ask me. I havent dropped it yet but does anyone know of a good enclosed case like this with a larger rear camara raised edges for camera protection.

I seen the ip68 or 67 waterproof clear cases. Anyone have pictures to compare the two?

You've probably noticed that things look a lot different here. Some features are missing. The Blue/Green AF robot theme is gone. What's happening? This is all intentional and a sign of big changes to come.

Android Forums started the day that Google announced Android. We built a community when most people doubted Android would succeed. We partied when HTC/T-Mobile launched the Dream/G1. We were the first to get our hands on Verizon's Droid brand and birthed some of Android's most legendary leaks (like the HTC Incredible). We became the go to source for help with Samsung's Galaxy phones and over the course of a decade built one of the most helpful, informative, fun, and friendly online communities in the history of tech.

And we did it together.

But let's face it: the height of Android excitement is behind us. The smartphone market has matured. New Android announcements just don't hit like they used to... and that's okay. Android will always have a special place in our heart, but as technology enthusiasts, we want and need more.

Today marks the beginning of a major shift, from a community of Android lovers to a destination for all tech enthusiasts. To start that journey, we've decided to strip the site down to its basic building blocks and update our software to the latest and greatest version. The two most important parts of the site remain unchanged: the content and the community.

Sorry I have a hard time making my mind up on buying stuff I research and research before finally buying something. I was thinking about get an a53 5g but researching a lot of people say the older a52 model is far superior to the a53. Can someone tell me the difference between the a52 and a52s? And if one of them would be a better choice over the a53 I've been thinking about getting? I want to ask people who know way more about the subject than me so I can make the best decision I can TIA!

I have Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 5G (Verizon Wireless), running One UI 5.0 on top of Android version 13 and for past three weeks I have noticed that my Contacts would "disappear" meaning they are no longer on the device. For example, I would sync the device with Outlook 365 (installed locally on my laptop) and the Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Memos would sync with the device. The information is not being synced with any cloud service; the information is stored locally on the device and on the laptop.

Then days later when I need to email a contact I would access the Contacts app ( I am using the native Contacts app that comes with the device) and not one single contact is present. All of them seems to have "disappeared." The Notes, Tasks and Memos are all there but not the Contacts.

Then I would do a one-way synced from Outlook to the device and the Contacts would sync to the device. Then days later when looking for a contact on the device they are no longer there.

Has anyone had this experience or heard of this happening?

In my app I need to call a worker thread which will retrieve technical information from the internet,
update either an EditText or a global variable in the UI thread, and then return to the UI thread where
the updated field will be used in further processing. I have a small experience with Threads having used ASYNCTASK and a simple thread but I am having difficulty getting into this one.

My understanding so far is that, on the one hand "this cannot be done", but on the other hand it can be done by choosing an appropriate synchronization technique. Pretty much all of the examples I have seen do not need the UI to use the returned result, at least not immediately, so I have not recognized an appropriate technique in my searching. I have tried several techniques for passing data between main thread and worker threads.
Examples:
I tried runOnUiThread to set the final value, but It seems to run on the UI thread after the UI thread has carried on?
TextChangedListener in the UI together with runOnUiThread in the worker thread but that does not work either?
I have read about Synchronization but this seems wrong because the main thread must be blocked?
I started looking at WorkManager, RxJava, Eventbus, BroadcastReceiver and more.

It seems to me that what I want to do is quite common and that someone should be able to guide me on which technique might be best to use with perhaps a simple example. I do not mind doing the hard work of learning new stuff but I would really appreciate a starting point for this one.

I think I understand fairly well about accepting/denying permissions, but I don't understand if apps can do these permitted actions "on their own" without any action on my part. For instance a browser app lists things like the following: add shortcuts, record audio, take pictures, prevent phone from sleeping, and more.

Can an app be doing such things if I have not opened it?? Do these things if I have opened it but have done nothing that would require such action, ex. add a shortcut, record autio, or ????? I think I have seen permissions allowing changes to contacts and files. I guess what I am really asking is: can apps be anonymously be "snooping around" "making changes"??

If this all sounds stupid maybe it's because I'm an old sod and not very savvy about today's computers and cell phones. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Posting Here, so obviously I have a Moto g power 2021. It runs Android 10 and until now I have not tried to update the system. Why u ask? - on this laptop that I am now using I am continually hounded to update the Firefox browser and my anti-virus app. Long time ago the latest update of these items seemed to be causing problems in shutting down the system. SO, I stopped updating. THIS is why I don't set for "auto update" or even manually update. (yes it is NOT the proper way to do things)

For some reason I just a few hours ago tried to update the oper.system on this phone and system said Andoroid 11..... was available but when I tried to do this I kept getting told to: "Turn off data saver" !! This was not on so could NOT be turned OFF. I can not get any further on updating the system.

Does anyone have an answer?

I currently have a Razer DeathAdder that I’ve been using since 2013 or 2014, but holding the right mouse

button has been flaky lately and also literally five minutes ago something in the mousewheel broke and now it

spins differently and fails to register any movement. My previous mouse was also a Razer DeathAdder.

Even though Razer is kind of a trash company and always has been, I really appreciate the ergonomics

(especially the size) of the DeathAdder and find the prospect of switching to a different mouse – almost all of

which are noticeably smaller or at least look smaller on a store shelf – a little daunting. So I figured I would

throw it out there for discussion: what gaming mice are we using these days, especially for the larger-handed among us?

I just coppied a project from github and when I click on any layout xml folder there is nothing in design section but it works on my phone and it says render problem

Hello all! i have a question about an app. My daughter is divorced and when my grandkids goes over to his dads house, he takes the phone and changes his settings. He also blocks our familys numbers so we cant call/text when hes over there. Is there an app that does the following

- monitors and logs when a phone number has been blocked
- locks settings with a password so settings cant be changed or tells us what settings have been changed

and, since this is a child, a parental app that can control the phone entirely remotely.

Last night around midnight, my A52, which was on the charger, started beeping approx 1/sec. After a minute or two, it started beeping rapidly, approx 2/sec. I unplugged the phone and closed all apps but it kept beeping. The only way I could get it to stop was to hold the side button and reboot. Notification settings are all OK.
Any ideas why this happened and how to prevent it? Do you think the midnight time is significant? I had no scheduled calendar events for that time, FWIW.

Somebody please help me I'm on a jp5s inmate tablet running Android 4.2.2 rooted ---i set my date forward in order to get game bonuses and now my date and time is stuck 8days into the future.every time I set the correct time and date (auto and manual) it changes back to the future time/date when the minute rolls over. This happened to a friend that I'm no longer in contact with and he fixed the problem by rewriting the system time(epoch time) what's the path to that file? I'm using ES as my file browser.

Is there any app that allows to control volume levels on a per app basis? Sometimes I'm listening to music spotify and want to use Instagram with zero sound (while viewing videos there) or play a game with volume muted but currently not able to do so.

I have a rooted Oneplus 9RT running Android 11.

I hope I'm not asking a crazy question and or one that's been answered. But why allow me download android auto if my firmware is too old to work with the latest version of the app? There's other apps that just says not compatible but not android auto app.
