Does Samsung Kies Backup Android Application State?

Samsung Kies is the Windows-based application that preceded "Smart Switch" and that is used for backup of older devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4. Does Kies backup application state? Looking at the UI, it looks like Kies only does a superficial backup of things that are usually already backed up in the cloud, such as contacts and music. In my case I have important applications running on my phone, such as Whatsapp and authentication applications, and I need to backup the state of those applications. Will Samsung Kies even make copies of that application data?

What I am trying to find is a way to backup the entire application state of a Samsung S4 so that it could be restored onto a new phone, and when that new phone is booted it would be running all the old applications, and would have access to all the old data.

Can I Backup and Recover Failing Samsung S4?

I have a failing Samsung S4 that I can power on up to the red Verizon logo. At that point, it hangs. Is there any way for me to get the phone to a menu or state where I can backup application data? The best result would be for me to reboot the phone so that I could enter individual applications and do backups of data.

At this point, I am thinking that hanging at the red Verizon logo might indicate that the OS itself has become corrupted. Can anyone think of an alternate reason for the hang?

I am able to press the Volume Up button and then power on and this gets me to an OS replacement menu. I have no idea whether this would give me any options to get into a mode where I can backup data. When I press Volume Down it does a normal boot and hangs at the red Verizon screen. When I do a Volume Up it wants to go into an OS overwrite mode, but there is nothing connected to the phone so that operation appears to be impossible in this state.

Online I read about getting to a recovery mode by pressing Volume Up + Home + Power. I am probably doing the sequence incorrectly, but all that happens in this mode is the phone vibrates every few seconds. It loops doing that. I am not sure that the recovery menu has any backup option anyway.

Assuming the OS is corrupt, is there any way for me to replace the OS with a new copy without wiping data and preserving all of my app installations? The phone is an I545, locked to Verizon most likely.

Help URGENT! Is this hopeless?

How do you like the big 'URGENT' in my subject?! :D

This isn't actually a matter of life or death, but it involves death--the death of my helper's father last year. He left a Samsung tablet (sorry, I don't know its model or name right now) but no one knows his login credentials. I told her she may be SOL, but I'd check since I'm very much out of the loop.

Is there some way to do the equivalent of a factory reset without knowing its account credentials? It's here in my house, so I can do it for her. If knowing its model would be helpful, let me know.

How to screen share easily with Galaxy Tab a8

I've looked it up and it seems that 'Smartview' now supposedly only works with Samsung TV's.

I'm trying to screenshare with a Chromecast connected to my non Sony TV.

I can do it with Google home of course, but there are so many steps to it.

I open Google Home, I select the chromecast, then it says 'your device might not me compatible' or somesuch so I have to confirm that, then there's like two or three more steps to actually get to the 'cast' button at the bottom left.

It used to be that it was one touch through Smartview, but now it's a pain. Is there a simpler way or an app that can get me screen sharing faster?

Anybody runs private DNS?

I was playing around with DNS setting a few month ago. Then, I've must have left Adguard dns setting as my default DNS server. I completely forgot about and used it without any problem. I didn't even realize I was running private DNS until i was doing something on my friends S21.. and I noticed ads in the apps on his phone. For a moment I was like well.. that's a bummer having ads. And then it hit me how come his phone showing ads and mine doesn't. I put them side by side to see what's happening and ran the same apps. His phone was showing ads and mine for some reason had empty spaces no ads just blank space(a bit weird looking empty space) as if something was supposed to be in that space but something blocking it. I quickly thought about of some sort a filter and I finally remembered about DNS settings I was playing around a few months ago. Turns out all this time I've been running Adguard DNS without knowing it and using ad free apps.

This Adguard DNS settings is awesome .

Galaxy s9 Filename Issues

Hi,
I have a Galaxy S9 using Nova Launcher.
If I navigate to a folder with JPGs and double-tap open one to view, then close it, then select another picture and open it, the first picture keeps opening.
This happens with Nova Launcher AND the native launcher.
If I select another picture, then use the "open with" menu and another viewer, the correct file is opened.
Anyone have any insight on this?
Thanks,
Rick

How Do I stop google uploading My Information?

Someone mentioned to me about google backing up Contacts which I thought did not happen (unless I used Duo, which I don't). But I just checked my phone. I have Settings -> Accounts & Sync -> Auto-sync data set to OFF. But in the Accounts drop-down under Auto-sync I selected google just to check it - and in the drop-down list that opened there it shows Contacts was synched ten days ago!! It also shows the calendar had been synched, though that was one-and-a-half years ago.

I don't want intrusive google getting any of my information. How do I stop this permanently (short of throwing away my android phone)?

If I root a Samsung without a computer(using no computer root method) will I receive Software Update

Basically what Im asking is if you root a Samsung without a computer method,

Will the update appear in settings like it normally does when the phone is not rooted?

If it does, can the download be accepted and the update installed normally, same as if the phone wasn't rooted?

Since the no computer method is used, will phone status stay "official" or will it be "modified"/"custom"?

Will a factory reset unroot a Samsung that has been rooted with the no computer method? I know that factory reset doesn't unroot android but Im curios if it makes a difference if the no computer method is used?

Sorry if the question is a little strange I don't have allot of knowledge on this so If you can give me an answer without mocking me I will be very thankful. I asked a similar question the other day but no one gave me an answer....

S7 BATTERY OVERRATED?

Just got the galaxy s7 phone that had rave reviews about its battery life, yet, with in a few minutes of regular use, several percentage points have dropped. It's a refurbished.

The last phone I had was a much cheaper moto e, and i. do. not, notice the 'big difference'. 24h? Did they mean on sleep? What could it be, btw bat was 33% at the start of writing, is now 27% (only two apps running).

Apps "App is draining battery" notification

Hello,

We have a driving behavior monitoring app that requires gathering location and sensor data from phone in background when the user is driving a vehicle. We take the requisite permissions from user during onboarding to be able to access Location All the time. We also optimise the data collection to reduce battery consumption. Still, some of our users get a sporadic message generated by Android that our App is draining the battery.

Is there any Android documentation that defines the criteria on when such a notification is shown. If the user ignores the notification, will it still keep coming. Is there anything a developer can do to prevent that notification from popping up.

Thanks

Gallery / Google photos

For some of you this might be a pretty dumb question but for me I can't figure this out. Today I had my note 20 ultra malfunction and I needed to get a new phone. So I got the S22 ultra. But since there's no memory card anymore I've had to back up and pay for Google photos and put all my photos on there.

My question is.... when I open my gallery there's nothing in it unless I take a new picture, then if I go to Google photos all the pictures that I've uploaded from my old phone are in "photos" app. is there any way I can see all of my pictures in my gallery like when I had a memory card... or do I have to go to Google photos from now on?

I really appreciate any insight I can get this is driving me nuts.

Phone now has crap on it I don't want

Hello everyone. A day or so ago I was playing around with my cell phone and saw this thing about making my keyboard larger. As I have vision issues I figured this might help me. I selected to install it. Now my phone has a total new home screen look, tons of aps I never saw before. I used to get little dots on the corner of me email and other aps when I had email, messages etc., now I don't have any. I liked the old way and want to get rid of the present settings. Can someone tell me how to go about doing this. Hopefully, I won't have to reset to factory settings and reinstall all my phone numbers, contacts and such.
Any help is appreciated.

Read data from Google Sheets

Hello everyone,
I have been trying since days to read data from Google Sheets into a list view. I was referring to tutorials from Crazy Coders Club. The write operation works well, however, the read operation either shows nothing or makes the app crash. I am adding below my codes, and I will be grateful if someone could help me figure out the problem.

Help Hard resetting/Powerwashing an android device

How do I go about powerwashing a Samsung phone (galaxy a01 to be specific) while skipping the Downloading... Please do not turn off the target screen? I have tried hard resetting it the normal way (holding down all 3 buttons while its booting) but I've always been interrupted by that blue downloading screen and it takes forever (i've been waiting more than 3 hours).

Edit:
I should probably include the fact that I forgot the password and can't unlock the phone

Round air vent smartphone holders??

I'm trying to find an air vent holder for my wife's 2017 Toyota Yaris but have had no luck so far. I've purchased 2 on Amazon and neither fit her vents. Do any of you have a Yaris or another model with round air vents and have a mount that fit them? Just to clear, it's not that the shape of the air vent that's the issue. It's the fact that the fins are round/curved as well.
