Slow motion video problem

I accidentally took a few videos in slow motion on my Pixel 8 Pro. I can play them in normal speed by moving the sliders to one end but if I copy the videos to my PC they play in slo-mo which is not enjoyable since the PC video players I've tried can't alter the speed to normal like the built in one on the phone. Besides the action and sound being slow, the video is all blocky.
Is there some way I can alter the original video so that I can save it as if it were recorded in normal speed and so it plays on a PC in normal speed?

Stuck sd tray

The Moto G Play's SD card tray is stuck, and I mean tight. It almost seems glued in there. The phone was not working for a while, not even charging, and I wanted to get the SD out of it. I tried that weird paper clip thing. Then I got some distilled water on a clothy paper towel. After that it was sticky tape. I eventually used a little WD40. Now the phone is charging, up to 54% after hours and hours, with a new charge cord, but the tray is still stuck and the SD is not showing.

Under the theme “Empowering the AI Revolution,” Samsung announced its reinforced process technology roadmap, including two new cutting-edge nodes — SF2Z and SF4U — as well as its integrated Samsung AI Solutions platform harnessing the unique strengths of its Foundry, Memory and Advanced Package (AVP) businesses.

“At a time when numerous technologies are evolving around AI, the key to its implementation lies in high-performance, low-power semiconductors,” said Dr. Siyoung Choi, President and Head of Foundry Business at Samsung Electronics. “Alongside our proven GAA process optimized for AI chips, we plan to introduce integrated, co-packaged optics (CPO) technology for high-speed, low-power data processing, providing our customers with the one-stop AI solutions they need to thrive in this transformative era.”

The event featured presentations from distinguished industry thought leaders such as Arm CEO Rene Haas and Groq CEO Jonathan Ross, who took the stage to emphasize the robust partnerships with Samsung in tackling new AI challenges. Around 30 partner companies exhibited at booths, further highlighting the dynamic collaboration across the U.S. foundry ecosystem.

Empowering Customer AI Solutions With State-of-the-Art Process Technology Roadmap

Samsung announced two new process nodes, SF2Z and SF4U, reinforcing its leading-edge process technology roadmap.

The company’s latest 2nm process, SF2Z, incorporates optimized backside power delivery network (BSPDN) technology, which places power rails on the backside of the wafer to eliminate bottlenecks between the power and signal lines. Applying BSPDN technology to SF2Z not only enhances power, performance and area (PPA) compared to SF2, the first-generation 2nm node, but also significantly reduces voltage drop (IR drop), enhancing the performance of HPC designs. Mass production of SF2Z is slated for 2027.

SF4U, on the other hand, is a high-value 4nm variant that offers PPA improvements by incorporating optical shrink, with mass production scheduled for 2025.

Samsung reaffirmed that its preparations for SF1.4 (1.4nm) are progressing smoothly, with performance and yield targets on track for mass production in 2027. Emphasizing its ongoing commitment to advancing beyond Moore, Samsung is actively shaping future process technologies below 1.4nm through material and structural innovations.

Entering its third year of mass production, Samsung’s GAA process is consistently demonstrating continuous maturity in both yield and performance. Leveraging this accumulated GAA production experience, Samsung plans to mass produce its second-generation 3nm process (SF3) in the second half of this year and deliver GAA on its upcoming 2nm process.

Samsung’s GAA production has been steadily increasing since 2022 and is poised to substantially expand in the coming years.

Highlighting Cross-Company Collaborations for Turnkey Samsung AI Solutions

Another highlight was the unveiling of Samsung AI Solutions, a turnkey AI platform resulting from collaborative efforts across the company’s Foundry, Memory and AVP businesses.

Integrating the unique strengths of each business, Samsung is offering high-performance, low-power and high-bandwidth solutions that can be tailored to suit specific customer AI requirements.

Cross-company collaboration also streamlines supply chain management (SCM) and reduces time to market, enabling a remarkable 20% improvement in total turnaround time (TAT).

Samsung plans to introduce an all-in-one, CPO-integrated AI solution in 2027, aiming to provide customers with one-stop AI solutions.

Diversifying Customers and Applications for a Balanced Portfolio Across AI to Mainstream Tech

Samsung is also making significant strides in diversifying its customer base and application areas.

Over the past year, close customer collaborations have led to an increase in Samsung Foundry’s AI sales by 80%, reflecting its dedication to meeting evolving market demands.

In addition to its leading-edge process nodes, Samsung offers specialty and 8-inch wafer derivatives with continued PPA improvements and strong cost competitiveness. With this balanced technology portfolio, the company is catering to customer needs across automotive, medical, wearable and IoT applications.

The Learning Curve, Part 5: Overcoming Multicultural and Multilingual Differences

As Samsung continues to pioneer premium mobile AI experiences, we visit Samsung Research centers around the world to learn how Galaxy AI is enabling more users to maximize their potential. Galaxy AI now supports 16 languages, so more people can expand their language capabilities, even when offline, thanks to on-device translation in features such as Live Translate, Interpreter, Note Assist and Browsing Assist. But what does AI language development actually involve? Last time, we visited China to learn about the importance of partnering with other leaders in AI. This time, we’re in Brazil to explore how teams work across cultures and borders to bring Galaxy AI to more people.

A diverse country with more than 203 million people embodying a wide range of cultures and traditions, Brazil uses Brazilian Portuguese as its official language. Meanwhile, 22 neighboring countries use Latin American Spanish.

Although Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish are widely spoken, intricate variations in both languages presented various challenges when teaching Galaxy AI to discern and distinguish regional differences. That’s why Samsung R&D Institute Brazil (SRBR) collaborated with Samsung experts from Mexico — as well as third-party partners such as the science and technology institutes SiDi and Sidia — to assemble a multidisciplinary and highly skilled team that could tackle the task.

Lower Barriers, Higher Understanding

The team used thousands of sources and a combination of machine learning and language processing tools to improve the AI model’s recognition of speech, written texts and regional variations. But local jargon and names of famous figures — including sports teams, celebrities and bands — vary widely between regions. Also, the same meaning can be expressed in many different words. While language models need localized data to gain a comprehensive understanding of the different languages to be translated, such variations inevitably present obstacles.

Learning-Curve_Brazil_main1.jpg

For example, swimming pool is “alberca” in Mexico — but it is “pileta” in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Meanwhile, in Colombia, Bolivia and Venezuela, swimming pool is “piscina”, which is also used in Brazil but with a slight tonal difference. And while Colombians might say “chévere” to refer to something cool, Mexicans instead say “padre.”

These differences represent huge challenges for AI language understanding and learning, but the team overcame them by building larger language models, refining processing tools — and collaborating across borders and time zones.

“We had to consider local slang and different ways of speaking before adapting and testing the model accordingly, which required close collaboration between the SRBR quality assurance (QA) team and development teams,” says Mateus Pedroso, Senior Manager and Head of Software Quality Lab at SRBR. “Since SRBR is located three hours ahead of the QA team in Mexico and 12 hours behind the management team in Korea, we had to create new communication channels and processes to align results and share progress. This multicultural collaboration generated a fiesta of ideas and solutions for Galaxy AI.”

Learning-Curve_Brazil_main2.jpg

Communicating Success

Samsung’s philosophy of open collaboration came to life during this regional project as it was an iterative process that leveraged evolving technology on a global scale. To overcome linguistic and cultural barriers, the SRBR team needed to collect and manage massive amounts of data — continually refining and improving upon audio and text sources.

The teams carved out key areas of responsibility to ensure everyone could benefit from the collective skill sets across the company’s Latin American offices. The SRBR development team served as the intermediate stakeholder of the project, receiving directions from Samsung’s headquarters and developing new updates to improve the AI model while carrying out tests for numerous use cases.

“The testing phase required extensive communication and collaboration with QA teams to optimize the user experience, and each adjustment needed further testing and review,” says Leandro Flores de Moura, Software Development Manager at SiDi. “The success of Galaxy AI’s language capabilities is built on communication and collaboration as much as it is on technical expertise” adds Nathan Castro, QA Test Developer at SiDi.

A Roadmap for Culture

What makes Galaxy AI particularly interesting for everyone involved is the fact that this wasn’t merely a language project. To them, language is a cultural guide that provides valuable insight into people’s heritage and identity.

“For SiDi’s QA team, this was an endeavor that will change the world by enabling cultures to come together and overcome the difficulty of communicating in different languages,” adds Estefanía Castro Suárez, Test Developer at SiDi. “Knowing we were part of this fills us with pride and motivation.”

“The way the SRBR team collaborated exemplifies what Galaxy AI sets out to achieve — making the world a smaller place through communicating, sharing and interacting with people, even those who speak different languages,” concludes Pedroso. “This capability will only grow as more languages come on board with Galaxy AI.”

SEOUL, June 12, 2024 — LG Electronics (LG) is participating in InfoComm 2024, North America’s largest professional audiovisual tradeshow, taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, from June 12-14. Inside a vast, 225-square-meter exhibition booth, the company is showcasing its latest AI-enhanced digital display solutions for B2B environments, including retail, corporate and education.

Among the highlights of LG’s InfoComm 2024 exhibit is a next-generation Micro LED display which is being unveiled to the public for the first time. Scheduled to launch by the end of this year, the newly-announced model employs AI technology to enhance picture quality and all-around performance.

LG’s Micro LED display utilizes tiny LED chips, measuring approximately 16 micrometers wide by 27 micrometers long – to deliver high contrast, bold colors and exceptional detail. The company’s sophisticated AI technology is used to produce and precisely evaluate the chips, 25 million of which are integrated into the 136-inch model. Additionally, the display itself leverages LG’s AI processor to analyze the brightness and tone of the LED chips in real time, automatically calibrating them to achieve the best picture quality possible.

Visitors to LG’s booth can also explore the convenience-enhancing signage display software available through LG Business Cloud, the company’s exclusive B2B online software platform. These include the LG DOOH Ads commercial display advertising solution, LG SuperSign Cloud content management solution, and the LG ConnectedCare real-time monitoring and remote-control solution. Each suite of software helps to maximize the efficient usage of LG’s commercial display solutions and expand the customer experience.

In addition, LG is demonstrating its security system, LG Shield, at InfoComm 2024. The ideal tool for an era in which security has become more important than ever, the system is able to protect central servers, apps and operating systems from a broad spectrum of cyber threats. LG Shield has attained several international security certifications, including Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 2 (CC EAL2) certification and the OpenChain security assurance specification (ISO/IEC 18974:2023).

Also on show is an advanced AI advertising solution, presented by LG in collaboration with its partners, which can display ads tailored to various audiences.

Furthermore, the LG booth features a comprehensive lineup of display solutions optimized for corporate environments. These include the LG MAGNIT, which now features a 144Hz variable refresh rate (VRR). Courtesy of this new upgrade, users can enjoy high-quality video content without the distraction of screen-tearing or stuttering. As certified by TÜV Rheinland, the LG MAGNIT delivers excellent low-grayscale performance, boasting outstanding image clarity and enabling users to see more vividly what’s happening during the darkest scenes. The display is also certified for color consistency over a wide viewing angle.

LG MAGNIT also has earned certifications regarding product- and user-safety in the installation environment. LG’s display complies with the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) regulatory standards for electromagnetic compatibility and has earned a Class-1 rating in the British Standards Institution (BSI) Surface Spread of Flame Test (BS476 Part7). It also comes with Eye Comfort certification from TÜV Rheinland for its low blue-light emissions.

The LG MAGNIT All-in-One, a 136-inch display equipped with a built-in controller and speakers, is ideal for use in offices and conference rooms. With its sleek, user-friendly design, the display has received prestigious industrial design accolades, such as a 2024 Red Dot Design Award and a 2024 iF Design Award.

Other impressive products presented by LG at this year’s InfoComm include 171-inch LED signage and 105-inch digital signage display featuring a 21:9 aspect ratio. Suitable for video conference calls, the super-sized screens enable users to display multiple pieces of visual information simultaneously, making it possible to share a wealth of data or video feeds from a large number of conference participants. Additional displays include LG CreateBoard, a digital whiteboard that promotes interactive learning and collaboration in both classrooms and workplaces. Google Mobile Services-certified, LG CreateBoard enables users to seamlessly integrate with the Google ecosystem by connecting their Google accounts.

Visitors can also see LG’s solutions for the digitalized retail environment, including digital menu boards and standing displays designed for drive-through restaurants and stores. The company’s solutions provide excellent visibility outdoors thanks to their high-brightness displays, and increased durability due to the implementation of technology that protects against screen-yellowing from prolonged exposure to sunlight.

“Featuring an array of AI-powered digital display solutions for B2B customers, LG’s showcase at InfoComm 2024 reveals a strong commitment to advancing the technology, and to meeting the unique display needs of diverse sectors,” said Paik Ki-mun, head of the Information Display business unit at LG Business Solutions Company.

The-Frame_Art-Basel_main1.jpg

Samsung Electronics today announced it is showcasing its The Frame display lineup at Art Basel in Basel 2024, in its role as the show’s first official visual display partner. This year’s event is being held from June 13 to 161 at Messe Basel exhibition center in Basel, Switzerland.

Founded in 1970 by gallerists from Basel, Art Basel, today stages the world’s premier art shows for modern and contemporary art, sited in Basel, Miami Beach, Hong Kong and Paris. For its 2024 edition in Basel, Art Basel will bring together 285 leading international galleries from 40 countries to present artworks of the highest quality across all media — from painting and sculpture to photography and digital works — by artists ranging from early 20th century modern pioneers to emerging contemporary practitioners. Art Basel will once again reaffirm its unparalleled position as a platform for discovery and encounters that drive the art world.

The-Frame_Art-Basel_main2.jpg

At Art Basel in Basel 2024, Samsung is hosting Samsung The Frame Lounge, an exclusive booth for its lifestyle TV The Frame, under the concept “A New Way of Exploring Art.” Models of The Frame are installed both inside and outside a dedicated lounge, as well as throughout the show, to present visitors with a variety of vivid screen experiences.

“By participating as the first official visual display partner of Art Basel in Basel, The Frame has further established itself as the lifestyle TV we all think of when it comes to digitally displaying art,” said Cheolgi Kim, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We plan to provide more digital art experiences with The Frame, contributing to the expansion of the art ecosystem and pushing the boundaries of technological integration within the art world.”

The-Frame_Art-Basel_main3.jpg

Samsung’s exclusive booth features The Frame Wall, with 14 models of The Frame displaying works of art that showcase their exceptional QLED 4K picture quality. Inside the booth, a Highlight Zone displays the wide range of remarkable artwork available on Samsung Art Store, while an interactive space called “Find The Frame Zone” allows visitors to enjoy discovering The Frame hidden among real artworks, hung side by side.

The Frame Lounge is also offering two live discussion sessions (titled “The Frame & Chat”) across two days, hosted by Daria Brit Greene, curator of Samsung Art Store, Samsung’s digital art subscription platform. The first interview is with Angelle Siyang-Le, Director of Art Basel Hong Kong (June 11) and the second is with Irene Kim, Global Head of VIP Relations, member of the Art Basel Management Board (June 12). Attendees can hear the insights of these two Art Basel leaders on the trend of art and key highlights of the show, as well as learn more about the meaning and goals behind the collaboration with The Frame.

In addition, to celebrate The Frame’s selection as Art Basel in Basel’s first official visual display partner, Samsung is hosting a session featuring prominent influencers, including Fritz Proctor and Geneva Vanderzeil, which gives them the opportunity to view the exhibition and experience The Frame for themselves.

The-Frame_Art-Basel_main4.jpg

The Frame was designed with art at the forefront. When it’s not in use, the TV can be used as home décor by displaying artworks or pictures on a premium, QLED 4K screen. And thanks to its Matte Display, users can admire the art clearly, even in bright rooms, making it look even more like a real work of art. Through Samsung Art Store, subscribers have access to over 2,500 artworks from renowned artists, museums and industry tastemakers around the world.
