My seven-year-old Galaxy S5 (Android 6.0.1) would be perfectly adequate for my needs if it still ran like it did when new, but for the past couple of years, it's been running very, very slowly, almost to the point of being non-responsive. Running an app killer will restore performance for a little while but when I pick it up an hour or two later, it's nearly comatose again.

I've heard tales of Apple intentionally crippling older phones; does that happen with older Samsung Galaxies?

I've looked into rooting the device hoping to strip out all the bloatware but have never found a root procedure for my S5 SM-G900V. Some S5's seem to be rootable but my model was always a problem, and I don't know if rooting would help anyway.

I suspect I'm just stuck with it but wanted to ask here if anyone had any ideas for squeezing a few more years use out of this phone. Upgrading to a new flagship is out of the question for me, though I could probably manage a lower-range phone like a Straight Talk A32 if I knew I'd be any better off.

Any helpful thoughts?

On the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G, does anyone know how to disable the side volume keys? My hands must keep grabbing them when I take it out of my pocket and eventually I have no volume, just vibration.

My samsung s9 flips or mirrors all my selfie videos and pictures..
If i am in any video chat, whats app or facebook, or anything it is mirrored, so if I hold up something with writing on it, the other party can NOT read it.

When searching for this problem every site says to go to the camera app settings and change "Save picture as previewed". But this doesnt do anything. The pictures are still mirrored, and so are all my video chats.

I have a Motorola Moto e6 XT2005DL running Android 9

So I downloaded a free VPN (ProtonVPN Free) from the Google Play store.

I wanted to have the VPN active at all times, so I followed the instructions I found online.

I went to Android Settings/Network & Internet/VPN/ then clicked the ProtonVPN settings icon

I turned on Always-on VPN.

I verified that when a left this screen and then returned, the "always on" was still selected.

However, If I restart the phone, The VPN is not active. I tried going into the ProtonVPN app, and changing the battery setting to NOT optimized.... thinking that might help. Nope.

I would like the app to start the VPN when the phone starts. You would think the "always-on" feature would do that, but I guess I'm stupid lol

Are there any SMS only apps that don't have the ability to send/receive mms?

Have the LG125DL Flip phone. How is it that a phone with no contract generate a busy signal.. Have never attempted to dial anyone because I have no service and do not need it. Multiple episodes over the last several months

I recently found an old phone and want to recover as many deleted texts and photos as I can. I bought the charger for it on eBay. Screen works fine. I tried hooking it up to my computer via usb and nothing happened.. nothing was prompted. Its not the usb that came w the phone though. It’s just a generic one. Not sure if that matters. Any suggestions?

My S10 on Verizon (via PagePlus) worked perfectly until recently... It stopped displaying SMS and MMS, and then lost mobile data entirely. Everything else seems to be fine. Conversations with PagePlus customer service (in Mumbai, I think!) produced various combinations of instructions, including reboot, remove - then replace - SIM, turn airplane mode ON then OFF, set and reset the APN, etc. etc. PagePlus insists that the function is turned ON, that the problem is not at their end.

This morning, in frustration, I *RESET* the @#$%! phone.
Still no mobile data.

Is it possible to customise the symbols in shift key?

Samsung S21 here, using Samsung Messages SMS. This should be a generalized question.

When I am creating a text, the data entry area is quite small. This means I often end up sending a text without reviewing it completely, and it has a bunch of mistakes. Is there any way to enlarge the entry area so that I can easily see more of the text I am creating? Maybe the attached pic will help. I am certainly willing to move to a new SMS app, so long as no ads. I don't mind paying for the app. Thanks

Not of the bio print off at all. It sometimes feedsback with text messages, and every pop up I do get just vibrates. I did turn off the really stinker of messenger plus, and going to work on with textra to see if that will fix it up or not,sorry for the space, I even put it into saftey mode, and it did not solve that problem, using ADW as well too,there is no settings to turn it off either..

During installation of a system update on my Galaxy S7, the screen started alternating between a blue screen with the android logo and a black screen with several error messages. The error messages is shown very briefly but one of them are: "fail to open recovery_cause (no such file or directory)". This went on and on and on ....
After searching a bit on internet, I tried to enter Recovery Mode (Volume Up + Home and Power). This removed the alternating screens but now the phone is totaly dead.
I've tried numerous key combinations without any responce. I've charged the phone. I have also connected the phone to my PC with an USB-cable. No response. I have removed the SIM and memory card and reinstalled them again. I am not able to get any response at all from my phone. Any suggestions?

Hi, I have an old acer phone given to me. I am unable to make or receive calls online (not my cell phone or provider, it's fine for that). Server issues, etc. I have done some of the things asked, airplane mode turn on off. SIM card deactive - reactivate. I was looking for the phone app on the phone itself and I don't see it. Don't know where I can get it. Does anyone know about this and what I should do.

Sometimes when I swipe the lock screen to go back to the home screen, I get a 'Settings' button
brings up Widgets settings instead of the home screen.

Any idea how to stop this?

If you have a 5G capable phone, how much do you actually get 5G nationwide here? I asked because I have what I've always been told by Verizon was a 5G capable phone but I've never gotten 5G Nationwide on it even though the SIM card has been changed twice and I have a 5G plan. It gets 5G ultra wide but not nationwide. I was told a couple of days ago by a tier 2 tech support person that my model of phone, a Samsung Note 10 + 5G might not be capable of getting 5G nationwide which doesn't make sense to me. She said she's going to talk to Samsung and find out if there might be a software fix for this issue.

How do people find using a screen protectors with fingerprint sensor?

I had problems on one phone when I tried to install a screen protector, just didn't work.

Some people say that they can be OK, others say not.

I'm buying a OnePlus, but want to be able to use the fingerprint normally.

The right button on my samsung galaxy no longer works. It is $$$ to repair, but the rest of the phone is in good working order. Is there an app that will make an on-screen button?

I have a Motorola moto g50 (XT2137-1). If the phone is on my table, and I move the table a little bit, the phone display turns on. So it reacts to the movement. How can I shut down this feature? It seems like a bad thing for the battery power.
