Help Android 8 to Android 12 migration headaches

I just bought a Galaxy A52, and almost immediately it upgraded to Android 12. My previous phone was Android 8, so there are a lot of changes and I'm not sure which version introduced them, but I don't like them. They're downright annoying. Specifically:

I don't want to use the native calendar, I use Google Calendar, but I can't turn the native calendar off. I tried to turn off notifications, but EVERY time I make a change in Google Calendar the native calendar gives me a message "Calendar noti. not shown" Yeah, that's what I want. Why is it showing me a notification that I've turned notifications off? It's stupid and annoying and wasn't in Android 8. This may be a Samsung thing.

Notifications in general. When an app has a message for me, a little number shows up on the icon to tell me how many unread messages I have. Super. Just like Android 8. But I also get a notification for EACH MESSAGE. This is new and I hate it. I tried to turn it off but that turns off all notifications for the app, including the number on the icon, which I like.

The Gallery has changed. It used to only show the pictures I take with my camera, now it shows every image and video, including the ones I download. When I show someone my photos I don't want to also show them the political memes I downloaded. No apparent way to turn this off.

After the upgraded to Android 12 I have a message that the software upgrade was successful. I cannot clear this message, I can only delay it for my choice of time up to one hour, then it comes back.

To me these are steps backward. As I discovered with Google Calendar, loading a substitute app doesn't help. Is there a fix I'm missing or is this just the way Android 12 works and I'm stuck with it?

Happy 1st Birthday Galaxy S21 series!

VLjhRRQm.jpg

It has been a year since the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21 series of phones.

In that time there has been around 26 stable updates and 3 beta releases for the international model, depending on location and CSC code.

Personally, I am loving my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, SM-G998B, model on the latest BVA9 update. The phone has come a long way in the last year and it is very fast and smooth with no lags or stutters and a great battery life and a camera that now more than suits my needs.

Lets see what the next year brings with the roll-out of One UI 4.1.

RESOLVED: Samsung Galaxy A32 5G No Vibration Incoming Calls

I bought a new Samsung Galaxy A32 5G a couple weeks ago. I love the phone, but it does not vibrate when I receive a call. Very strange that it works if my phone screen is on, but does not vibrate when the screen is off. I've googled the problem and tried everything recommended. Any ideas? I'm thinking its a software issue; so maybe I just need to return for a new phone. I go thru Metro by T-Mobile in case that is important to know.

How can I get ongoing visual notification for missed text or call?

Just got new S21 and, except for the battery life, I'm kinda wishing I was back with my antique Note 3. Hoping this is just until I'm used to it, but I find it frustrating to get simple settings the way I want them.

How can I get ongoing visual notification that I have a message or that I missed a call? I set up the edge light-up notification, but that seems to be a one-time thing when the message comes in. I have neither the time nor the desire to sit there and stare at my phone all day to watch for messages. The blue blinking LED on the Note 3 was great... caught my attention immediately when I glanced in the direction of my phone. I now find myself having to turn on the screen every time I think of it to see if there's a message waiting.

I feel like I must be missing something obvious... how can I set up an ongoing visual notification for messages or missed calls? I've Googled this to death, and it appears the notification light is indeed removed from the S series. I honestly can't believe it, what the heck were they thinking? Does anyone have a viable solution???

Thanks!

Android Studio error: "CocoaPods not installed or not in valid state."

Where does Android Studio expect to find CocoaPods? Could this be a path problem?

I have Bumblebee 2021.1.1.

I'm trying to test my app on my iPhone from Android Studio. The error I get is

Warning: CocoaPods not installed. Skipping pod install.
CocoaPods is used to retrieve the iOS and macOS platform side's plugin code that responds to your plugin usage on the Dart side.
Without CocoaPods, plugins will not work on iOS or macOS.
For more info, see https://flutter.dev/platform-plugins
To install see https://guides.cocoapods.org/using/getting-started.html#installation for instructions.

Exception: CocoaPods not installed or not in valid state.

I ran gem list and the list of installed pods include:

cocoapods (1.11.2)
cocoapods-core (1.11.2)
cocoapods-deintegrate (1.0.5)
cocoapods-downloader (1.5.1)
cocoapods-plugins (1.0.0)
cocoapods-search (1.0.1)
cocoapods-trunk (1.6.0)
cocoapods-try (1.2.0)

I ran

sudo gem uninstall cocoapods && sudo gem install cocoapods

I ran

flutter clean

I restarted Android Studio.

I ran File > Invalidate Caches… > Invalidate and Restart.

I ran

brew install cocoapods
brew link --overwrite cocoapods

I ran

cd ios
pod install

This threw this error:

[!] CocoaPods did not set the base configuration of your project because your project already has a custom config set. In order for CocoaPods integration to work at all, please either set the base configurations of the target `Runner` to `Target Support Files/Pods-Runner/Pods-Runner.profile.xcconfig` or include the `Target Support Files/Pods-Runner/Pods-Runner.profile.xcconfig` in your build configuration (`Flutter/Release.xcconfig`).

I tried to open my Android Studio project in Xcode and got this error:

Could not open file.

What should I do?

Buying Samsung Unlocked Phone from ebay.

Hi,
I have purchased an Unlocked AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 phone Model SM-900A from eBay. Seller described phone as UNLOCKED. I tried to confirm unlocked status using official AT&T site at:
https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/ Step-1 You have to send an unlock request AND RECEIVE a request number. Step -2 Enter phone's IMEI along with received a request number to receive confirmation email within 24hr. AT&T tech. support told me that I need to have an AT&T account number and a phone number to successfully unlock phone. eBay seller did not provided any of required information. The paid unlock service ($44) does not seems be reliable and might not work after software update. Also, it does not provide necessary information to verify unlock status through AT&T site. The bottom line is that I like the phone and would like to keep it if it can be legally unlocked. I need you opinion and advice on how to unlock the phone and conform with AT&T its unlocked status. Thanks in advance.

Help 10" NuVision Android tablet not booting

I was given a 10" NuVision Android tablet (TM101A620MPPM) that I'm hoping to rehabilitate and possibly install a custom ROM on. I've done 3rd-party ROMs before, mostly LineageOS, but I haven't been able either to get this tablet to boot or enter state where a computer (or ADB) will recognize it.

It makes no difference whether I simply power it on, or power it on holding the volume button either up or down, it turns on, displays the NuVision splash screen ... and hangs. I've left it sitting for a day or longer in that state and it's only ever got beyond the splash screen and to the juggling balls once. On that one occasion it took a couple of hours to get to the juggling balls but then hung there for another day without proceeding further.

I've also been trying to establish communication with ADB, ... without success. I've used multiple computers, Linux and Windoze, and multiple USB cables connecting to the various USB ports. In no case has any of the computers recognized that there was a USB device attached, nor has "adb devices" shown it was connected.

Is there anything else I might try to revive this thing, some secret incantation, sacrifice a yellow rooster under a gum tree during a new moon, etc?

Bluetooth Extender Antenna ?

  1. I am connected ( with Bluetooth ) and the app I'm using connects devices and sensors to the internet

  2. The app connects the smart devices that I connect to via bluetooth to the internet.

  3. I would like to increase my Bluetooth range to connect to more devices and sensors.

  4. Is there something that I can add to my phone to extend my Bluetooth range? I have been searching for 2 days now.... hopefully you can help . thank you

Change phone to make 4G?

I bought an A12 Samsung phone not denoted as a prefix in your menu. Unfortunately I purchased from Hong Kong and it seems like it's only 3G here. Its 4G there with there phone masts though. I wondered if it's possible to make my phone 4G somehow though? Is it Hong Kong firmware so impossible to do or a software issue?

I can't change it the normal way in the LTE, 2g, 3g, 4g selections as 4g is missing from those menus.

I can't send it back & the company is no longer trading in Hong Kong & I don't want to send it back.

So is there a way to somehow resolve this? I'd like to think so in this day & age.

Thanks!

How to use Android Studio spellchecker [Solved]

Hi
I'm a newbie with Android Studio.

I get this wiggly line under a color name fuchia (should be fuchsia), but I can't seem to find any suggestion from Android Studio as to how it is spelled correctly, In other applications I can right-click and in the popup there usually are some suggestions as to ow it should be spelled correctly.
In Android Studio I can only get to a dialog, where I can rename it, not very useful when I don't know how to spell it correctly.

How is it done ?

Thanks in advance
Best regards
Asger
