maybe I am making a big mistake but from the manual and the settings looks like it is impossible to select my own image as wallpaper and an mp3 as a ringtone. Bloody hell this would be the first telephone I have seen with this crazy limitation. Am I wrong?

Hi,
I used to get the tower connection information on old nokia,which was helpful during train journey to know the place in the journey without looking outside the train.
This was very useful, but latest android mobiles are not giving this information , called cell broadcast information on home screen.
Are there apps or widget that shows in letters kind of moving letters repeatedly denoting the tower the cell is connected like the nokia lower end phone .
Is any permission needed to have those information from the service provider of the towers to get it on android.

I had the bitter experience of buying a already used, sim activated, phone sold to me at a new phone price from a reputed online site.
Due to this, my warranty date has been advanced to 9 months, from the actual one year. that is up to march 22 for the device I purchased on 11th month 2021.
Manufacturers somehow know the exact date of sim activation on a phone, but this is not known to users of the phone.
Why cannot all manufacturers of mobile phone, give alert to whoever purchase these kind of used phones an alert, that a sim has already been activated, so that users could immediately return the phone.
Now a phone do not need any sim for activation, but only a wifi. The phone facilities are only provided with sim providers for their function.
So called imei com sites give only manufactured date , which could be seen outside box of the content.
When manufacturer could know the information, why this is not provided to users on first boot of the use.
Normally we make the first boot of OS, by attaching sim and memory card.

The first ring is loud, then 2nd ring is quiet and the announcement of who is calling is quiet, and 3rd ring is loud again, and 4th ring is quiet and the announcement of who is calling is also quiet.

It was working fine before, all rings were loud and the announcement was loud.

I have an app called WifiTools on my old Android (which was a dodgy China Ebay purchase). Every so often it pops up a white screen with "Hello World!" at the top. Is this a virus? I can't find any mention of WifiTools on a google search. I can't uninstall or disable it in the system control panel.

If I start the phone normally, I get the normal user interface.

If I press volume up and power for a few seconds, I get a dead robot with a red triangle and "No command".

If I press volume down and power for a few seconds, I get a grey screen that says "FASTBOOT mode..." at the bottom left of the screen.

How can I access the recovery options or boot menu or hard reset?

I created an app that take an input from user and save it to file and I need to send this file by email.
File was created in a folder private for application and I need to save it to public (shared) folder.
How can force app to write file in a specific folder ?

I used this sintax:
fos=openFileOutput(FILE_NAME,Context.MODE_PRIVATE);
If I try to put a path before FILE_NAME (such as
"/storage/self/primary/Download/" + FILE_NAME), app crashes.

My name is Martin, I am from South Africa and this is my first post on this forum and I need some advice please.

My LG G8's screen cracked long ago but was still working. Recently the phone got water damaged and I took it in for repair as I thought the screen does not work anymore due to the water. I can switch it on I can hear it starts up and volume buttons respond. BUT....I have secure startup on the phone so it does not start up and Now I cannot plug the phone into my PC to extract all my Photos as it will only list on the PC once the operating system starts up.

I took the phone in for repairs and they checked the screen etc. the screen works on another phone but my processor/cpu is damaged and that's why screen does not come on. They tried fixing it but no luck.

I have read on a a few tech sites on how to try recover data but no definite solution to my specific problem.

The only way I might be able to do it is to try start the phone in safe mode with power and volume down button, then hopefully manage to hard reset the phone...then use some software to do data recovery via the pc for all the deleted files?

Can someone please advise me on what would be the best way to try and recover my photos?

I do not have a backup of the last 5 or 6 months photos and trying to recover that. (my own stupidity I know)

Accomplished the downgrade this afternoon. Every thing went well EXCEPT the device complained about NO SIM CARD INSTALLED after the downgrade even though it could see the SAME sim card before I downgraded.

So, scratched my head for a bit and then went back to Oreo. Found sim card just fine. WTF???

SIM card was in the device thru-out both flashes.....

Hi everyone, I'm a new user of this forum and I'm also a new custom ROM installer. I have a few days ago installed my first custom ROM on an old Samsung Galaxy S3. I also have an old Mediacom SmartPad S4 tablet, but I have not found any ROM for this tablet. Could you tell me if there is any ROM for this tablet or if you can install Windows 7 or Windows 10? At the moment the device is practically unusable. Mount an Android 4.2 and from what I know even WhatsApp will remove the availability for devices that have this operating system, since it has already removed it for those who have 4.1 (S3 mini for example). Could somebody help me out?

This is my second LG Velvet (warranty) that does this. It will enter DND mode as scheduled but randomly doesn't exit dnd about half the time.
