Hi, I am a recent transfer from an iPhone and on it I had a app that took your audiobook disks one at a time and converted the files to iPhone type files and you could listen to a book and stop then start from where you left off.
I have been trying to do this with my S8 and cannot get it to work, I have searched online and keep getting directed to Audible Which as far as I can see does not allow you to record your own audiobook CDs and have the converted files sent to your phone.
Also as far as i can see to use Audible you have to pay a monthly fee and I object to someone getting money from me to play my own disks.
Any advice on a similar program to the one I had on iPhone That allows recording and converting audiobooks ON DISK to play on the samsung S8 would be greatly appreciated as I have about twenty books on disk that I want to listen to as my collie takes me for a walk.

I have a custom tablet like device with NXP i.MX 8M Mini processor running Android 10. My device sometimes gets stuck at Android boot screen. Power cycling the device does not resolve the issue. The only way to recover the device is to delete user data.

When the device is in this state, I am able to communicate with it via ADB.

This device is enrolled with an MDM and is in kiosk mode.

I see the following log statement in the adb logs:

ActivityTaskManager: No home screen found for Intent { act=android.intent.action.MAIN cat=[android.intent.category.HOME] flg=0x100 }

Any help as to what is causing this issue and/or how to resolve it is appreciated.

I could put it on my old tablet and have it sit to glance at a time ...
would be nice if the app also didn't burn out the screen

so I have the otterbox symmetry case for the standard s21 and have the otterbox symmetry case which I bought used in "like new" condition. I noticed recently my phone had a very mild "scuff" (wear/Crack whatever you wanna call it) on the corner outer bezel. Today I dropped my phone on the concrete sidewalk in it's symmetry otterbox case and the same area managed to get cracked a bit. does that mean my case is in defective condition and not properly doing its job? or did I just not get a sturdy enough case for my phone? is this normal?

I've tried scouring the site for a related thread but most that seem relevant are from 2016. I have a S10 running Android 11. I have had this issue for a long time now, (I THINK) dating back to my previous S8 model. So it may not specifically be hardware related.
I run multiple Gmail based accounts on my phone. 2 personal and one work related (1 personal is rarely used). The problem first appeared with the work account. It is a gmail email w/ a @"XYZ".com name. Now I've started noticing the same issue w/ my personal account.
It appears as if my gmail app is going to sleep after a certain amount of time. Occassionaly I will open my app and within a few to 5-10 secs I will have no new messages. If I refresh the screen by pulling down or sometimes on it's own, the inbox will refresh and new messages will appear. These messages could be anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours old.
I have verified that Gmail is set to "never sleep" and I recently turned my performance mode up but have seen this happen since doing so. The most significant aspect is that it appears to only happen if I haven't checked it in a while. I have witnessed this happen on both mobile data and home wifi. I do have spotty reception at work but this has occurred outside of work as much if not more often.
This seems to have been a common issue at one time if not still current but I can't seem to determine if there's ever been a resolution determined.

Last, I'm considering a 3rd party email app if I have to but would really rather not go that route (really from a learning curve convienence only). If I did use something like Spark, would it not just pull from the Gmail app or would it connect to the servers directly and bypass gmail app?

It's just stable enough to effectively track every keystroke and eye dilation/position without completely collapsing in on itself. Mine data first- functionality and common sense are a distant... Very distant second...

Endless phone resets with the hours-long process of re-entering ALL of my passwords, re-downloading apps, inevitably forgetting this or that, losing pictures, files, memories, in my hurry to re-obtain a functioning phone that doesn't lag so badly it's marginally unusable, or the phones internal memory filling up faster than a wading pool in a sustained monsoon.

My source? I've owned about 40 various smartphones, all android, never apple, but that is going to change.

The endless, searing incompetency of Google in making a stable platform is staggering to me. Do they hold secret basement meetings where they discuss how they can make things worse? "Oh! Oh!" You may defend them by saying they have to create software that has to cater to thousands of hardware changes, but the truth is I have only ever had ONE phone that served me well, years ago- It was an LG G3 (Or G4, not sure, owned them both, one sucked, the other was wonderful). That phone was fast, stable, and when it did give me issues, "Updates" usually fixed them- rather than becoming "Slowdates" that lag the phone and create entirely new problems.

So, I have owned one phone out of forty that provided me with a somewhat decent experience.

So yeah. I'm done with Android and Windows. Windows, the brainchild of a horny control freak, constantly asking you to log into your Microsoft account with endless annoying popups so he can keep track of everything you do (Sound familiar? Android and Windows are two peas in a pod. They both need to be broken up like Ma Bell, because they are the very definition of the word monopoly)

Yes, yes, I know Apple also mines your data. But, there is a sense of community there- yes, also snobbiness, but I will take snobbiness over incompetency- at least their shit works.

I'll sell everything I own to dive head-first into the Apple marketplace, just to escape the endless frustration and sorrow that is Android and Windows. Until that day I must wade through the Abomination of Desolation (Yes, even the Bible speaks of Android and Windows, not even God can ignore how bad it is. God speaks to Lucifer, but throws up in his mouth a little when he thinks about Android)

You may have had nothing but smooth sailing and good luck with Android, and if so, good for you. It has NOT been my experience. I can't be alone in that.

Anyway that's my little rant on the trash O/S. You have to remember something. It isn't an operating system. It's a data mining program designed to distract you from the fact that it's literally tracking everything you say, see, do and look at for the purposes of selling that to make money. That's not the worst part, the worst part is that we literally have no choice, no alternative. There is no Linux for phones. Best we can hope for is a root- and manufacturers are making that more and more impossible.

Until a balance is found I am going to do everything I can to invest fully in Apple. As I said. At least their shit works.
