Is there any way to just browse to mail.google.com and login to a gmail account without being forced to install the google profile on my phone? My work requires a work profile and for them to be able to control my device. On a pc, you can go to mail.google.com and login. But, when I try mail.google.com, it only shows my non work profile email addresses. If I try to sign in with a different email address, it automatically forces androids account manager to go through the steps as if I wanted to install the account on the phone. I don't want to install the account on the phone. I only want to view it in a webpage.

With a screen protector on, I'm stuck with the finger print circle that shows (faintly) on all screens, messages, photos, home screen etc. This one really pisses me off and I'm told that ALL android phones have this. If I don't use a screen protector, it doesn't show... but I must have a screen protector on there. Since I make a living with wildlife/nature/landscapes etc. customers like WA state forest service, can see that circle in the pic, which almost ruins it. If you don't use a screen protector, it's doesn't show up. I'm temped.

When I went back to the store about this to see if there was a solution, like another type of screen protector or a special case. He said no, your stuck with that. I then ask if I could give the phone back and get like say the
OnePlus 9 Pro or LG V60 ThinQ 5G or another high end brand phone instead. He said ALL new Android phones have this now, no getting around it so get use to it. So is he telling the truth or just trying to get out of me swapping for another phone?

I've seen a million and one posts about Bluetooth autoplay but no one seems to be looking for the solution that I am so I'm making another post. Whenever I turn on my car and the Bluetooth connects it automatically starts playing the last audio program I used. Doesn't matter if it's audible or Spotify or even YouTube if the app is still open. I don't want it to autoplay. If music is not playing when the device is connected I don't want it to start playing. It also does not matter if I let it auto connect or manually connect. I've tried using the task manager to take control of the virtual media button and it does not seem to be working. I still want the audio to come out of my car but only when I manually tell it to do so not automatically. Android auto settings do not work bluetooth settings do not work etc.

To be honest this automatically playing when connected to Bluetooth crap has been an issue for over a decade. Android what the hell are you doing besides bogging down our system with undeletable bloatware like Bixby.

I'm a totally newbie in android development and trying to understand how contact content provider works.

My assumptions so far:

1) To work with contacts content provider via URI's you should be able to pass oauth2 authorization first.
I.e. not enough to have rights in your application.
2) If you work with AOSP - based OS, say, in a car and pair with Bluetooth device then contents of contacts are filled with data by means of framework via, say, PBAP of Bluetooth.

3) If you want to connect another phone then all data from previous one is lost.


Am I right in my assumptions?

I've been trying to get my dad a phone that he can use which ticks all the boxes: tough and very loud for construction sites and he's deaf, big physical buttons (his finger skin is so thick that touch screens don't work), easy to operate (tech level: hammer) although his missus and I can set it up for him. Front facing camera and video call capability so wifi and data for whatsapp or skype or other, functional main camera but nothing special.
So, I bought second hand an old Ruggear RG310 on android 4.4.2 Kernel 3.4.67 Build number RG310-isafe-0062-20180830 as it seemed to tick some of these boxes.

On playing with it it is lacking the easy to operate bit. I thought I'd be able to customise the Home screen to pin his most used contacts but I can't change anything.
Despite the physical keyboard, at any data entry prompt the virtual keyboard pops up and covers half of the already tiny screen, which seems completely pointless and is very annoying. I can't find any way to turn it off - there's no hardware keyboard option in Languages and keyboard settings.
It would be better if it defaulted to the main home screen on unlocking, at the moment it stays wherever you left it.
The font is set to 'huge' but it's still tiny.
There's an SOS button on the front but there's no way to set it up. It's also PTT ready but there's no information on how this works and the button does nothing.

My questions are - would rooting it let me change these things? And if yes, how do I root it? I've never done this before.

Web searches have come up with many highly dodgy looking 'download my root app and I'll empty your bank account' type websites.

Or have I just bought a new door stop?

After the latest Gboard update, my clipboard is now being synced between devices that I am signed in with my Google account and using Gboard with. I don't see anywhere to turn this option off, I don't want my clipboard being synced between devices.

In my case there is no "podcasts". Phone got an update to Andorid 11. Is there anything that can be done about it? The phone is a Huawei Nova T5.

I'm wondering whether there's any hope for my old android. It's been in storage for awhile and my other phone broke so was thinking about bringing it back. It works for phone, text, and data but many apps I have tried are not working as it's android 4.2.2. Is there a way to update this device? I have very little experience here but can follow instructions.

How to get rid of the popup notification in text messaging?

Two days ago I got a new Galaxy S21 Plus 5G
I'm having issues with my text message showing popups such as "Message saved as a draft" or "Copy to clipboard" or "You will no longer receive any calls or messages from this number" sometimes right in the middle of the keyboard area and I can't see two rows of letters, so I can't continue my message! This won't go away while texting AND stays on even if I go to another page like home page, gallery etc. I do deliveries and I have to text a lot of times for directions with customers and can't with this on my screen. This popup message will stay on at least five minutes until it goes away. Before with my S9+ it would popup for a few seconds and then go away... I'm OK with that, but five minutes!!!

What the heck is this and how do I get rid of it???

I broke down finally and got a new Galaxy S21+ 5G as I wanted a bigger screen for GPS purposes. I was expecting more, but outside of the bigger screen, I liked my former S9+ better.

Firstly I'd like to apologise if this is the wrong place to ask for this advice or post this advice but I dont know where to ask and I'm quite lost now.

My Ex is claiming that I hacked her phone and stole her data, she is also claiming that I secretly used a 2nd sim card and "expanded my cpu". These claims are completely baseless however she got into my google account and downloaded all of my data and somewhere in the data she found something saying:

She claims this is proof that I have hidden data in my phone and I "expanded" my cpu(I dont know what she means). Can someone please tell me what this line of data means so I can better understand what it is? Im so sorry for asking this here.

A while ago I noticed a new behaviour of my phone regarding the opening of messaging or email apps. It used to be that they would open on either the inbox or where I last left them. Now they all seem to automatically open on the newest message I received.

This ruins my workflow since most of the time I now have to first click away a low-priority message to get to a view where I can see which messages actually require action on my part.

It is also super annoying when I am in a conversation on one channel and close the app to look something up elsewhere, and then end up in a different conversation when I come back a minute later.

Is there any way to fix this? I would be so greatful!!

so if you do not know, i just bought a Ring Floodlight camera......and i love it. this was my first purchase into "The Internet of Things".

i really like the camera and its added sense of security. i am now looking into getting a ring doorbell.

i was just at Best Buy and they have a smart home section. now what has caught my eye is Google's nest hub thermostat and i was looking for hub that will also work with my floodlight camera. i just learned that Google Hub does not work with ring well. it will not let you watch the video feed from the camera.....so that will not work. Amazon's Alexa has a hub that will work with both Ring and Google's nest thermostat.

anybody here has them setup at their home?

i would like to have a simple smart thermostat to control the heat and ac for my house. the nest thermostat looks simple enough to use and i love how you can control the temp and program it to go on and off according to the time of day.

not sure if i want the lights to be controlled, but that would be cool to do at some point as well.

I tried to root my device (miui 12.0.4) same as this video :
I did all of steps and stuck at bootloop..
then downloaded miui 12.0.3 and flashed.. it didnt worked..
I unlocked my phone before but at developer mode oem unlocking is disable and cannot enable.. but says device is unlocked

also tried :

then i tried to lock oem and unlock again.
after fastboot oem lock command, I cant boot system and I cant flash anything
